Now that I've seen this, I'm considering changing my password at my forum to something like @*#$62383@#$.

FS :'(.

Thats what you should do in the first place. :arr:

Actually, you should have something more along the lines of jI43*e_cm3*Dkej2&d;m@394n4>493nK if you're serious about security.
You're allowed 32 characters or something.
Use them.

ALL of the admins used passwords like ¾¿¶µ±°ĦŒωφЖДΩΦљяю₧№™⅜≤≈≠∞¥ßШФжå. Definite. Don't always assume it's due to bad passwords, cause it wasn't this time. You seriously need to check out this. If that was cracking, then that's gotta be a lightning fast cracking program. My password was just a day old, and the others' not much more. Cracking those passwords should have taken weeks, or months.

We're not sure if we'll bother with getting the backup, anymore, cause we have no way to make it more secure than it was.

For your forum password or your email password?
There's lots of ways to get your account cracked.
Guessing or brute forcing are just two.
The majority of people simply get their forum or email passwords guessed, and those that don't, usually get tricked into giving away information that allows somebody to abuse the email provider's password recovery feature, or they have easy recovery questions.
Then there's the silly people who use the same password for multiple things, and websites and IPB's can be set up to record your password, so that's obviously not a good idea.
Etc., etc.
People, including me, assume it's a simple password thing because 99.9% of cracking cases are.

E-mails were secure, too. And no one other than the admins could've even known what address I used for it.

Just wondering, what does duffy do in cases like this? I mean...technically one of his many forums just got hacked, wouldnt he use "Teh Backhand of Justice(tm)" of some sort?

*curious*

I'm not assuming that you guys did, but your password should be unique. Don't use it at other places. While using it at another IF board may be quite safe (you have no access to where it's stored), using it at other places should not be done.

[edit]
Basically what PhranK said...
Sorry, too early here (11 something AM, but that's early for me) >_<
I'm an idiot.
With bad grammar.
Please ignore me. :$

If nobody has noticed, the posts are still there, all 22989 of them. The forum that is visible is forum #88. So, all we need to do is be able to view the others. I tried entering the URL for the forum manually (changing the numbers), but it said I have to register. Of course, the hacker turned off registrations. If we can get admin access (which I think DuffMan has), logically we can save the posts.

I thought of this in bed last night.
