I don't think that's the case.
For the most part, homophobic people fall into two categories:

1) Religious people who interpret the teachings of their faith to mean that homosexuality and often even having "homosexual thoughts" is unacceptable, if not downright evil.

2) Those who might not be against homosexuality directly, but rather are so afraid or ashamed due to those who are, that they adopt their attitudes and behaviors, if not their beliefs.

A person from either of those groups, when in some way confronted with the truth that their heterosexuality is a deception which has been imposed upon them, is generally going to respond in one of two ways:

1) Intensification of their homophobia and/or denial

2) "Become" homosexual/bisexual (in quotes because nobody "becomes" homosexual/bisexual, just as nobody "becomes" black or white, with the possible exception of Michael Jackson)

So, homophobic people aren't more likely to "become" homosexual, as you suggested, but rather, homosexual people are more likely to be homophobic, oddly enough.

That's one of the truly saddening and repugnant things about our society.
Thousands of people in America alone take their own lives each year, because they can't handle the lying, the misery, the loneliness, the hatred, the contempt, and whatever else they have to go through on a daily basis.
And of those who don't, most still suffer depression and other health problems because of it, as well as lots of other things, not the least of which is just not being able to be themselves and experience their potential.

I have, and have had, lots of friends who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, though most have been open about it for as long as I've known them.
A few years back though, I was living with a male friend who, despite having a good job, a house, nice car, pets, etc. was never happy.
He mentioned at one point that he hadn't been on a date in 10 years or so, and I thought that pretty strange and sad, but figured maybe it was because he was a bit overweight and such and maybe didn't have much self-confidence and all that.
But he came out about a year later, after deciding it was worth risking his friendships, his family, and his job, to try to find some happiness and be himself.
Funny thing is, none of us cared one bit, and many were not at all surprised.
He'd kept himself miserable and lonely for 20 years for nothing. :/

Sorry for rambling a bit off-topic there.
Maybe we should start a trend of calling other guys hot? :eh:

Anyway...
I had intended to post about something else before I saw that post of yours.

Oh yeah!
I had to look up Matthew McConaughey, since I wasn't sure who you were talking about.
Turns out he is kind of hot.
In that sort of rugged, chiseled Brad Pitt sort of way.
Still, he's no Drew Barrymore. ;)
And I bet his face is all scratchy and he smells. :r

I think to freak out because a guy calls you hot is rather odd and to me it says they are insecure about their sexuality in some form or another, I called ticlo that and he never freaked out

Freaking out over a compliment is just silly :P ^_^

Blegh, al the good stuff's already said... Even that the good stuff's already said is said...

Nothing to add here :ermm:

Except that PhranK is hot.

And another thing. If a guy asked that question at my school they would automatically think the guy was gay. Trust me. I asked and everyone I asked (mainly the guys) thought that I was gay. Which I am not.

Did that surprise you?
Asking any question at all, unless it's about sports or cars or how big a girl's breasts should be, is bound to arouse suspicion.

 I really enjoyed reading through all this... great points (and jokes :P)

There are just soo many double standarts when it comes to gender *shakes head*
Personally I don't think it's weird for a guy to hug another guy or comment on his looks and it has nothing to do with your sexual orientation.
And furthermore, a lot of girls thinks that gay or bi men are sexy... I have soo many girl friends who are into slash

With the risk of being slightly off-topic here I just had to post a link to this page Dear Dr. Laura that deals with religion and homosexuality in the most hillarious way.

Most heterosexual males, including religious types who claim to be opposed to such things, are turned on by bisexual girls and lesbians, despite the whole lesbians not being interested in men thing, which is confusing on the surface, but when you realize how simpleminded males are, makes perfect sense.
