It might be a virus. Since you can't run McAffee, download AVG from Grisoft and run that.

was it giving u an automatic shutdown within 1:00 minute?

i would run ad-aware SE, spy sweeper, spybot 1.3 and AVG or even Anti-Vir

if any dialog box appears telling u will be shutdown in one minute open up the command prompt and type:

shutdown -a

this will kill the shutdown program

run the three programs i said. also defrag your computer this weekend over night. then the next night, run the program Eraser on a 3 layer wipe for open space and used space. it wont destroy anything except the stuff u THOUGHT u deleted.

if u do those 2 programs after the spy stuff....u will be running like jesus on an ice pond without sandals

defrag, eraser, spy sweepr, spybot, ad-aware. run them.

also clean up your comp and get the latest java runtime enviroment, Quicktime and DivX codecs if u use them. also goto macromedia.com and download flash and shockwave updates and DirectX 9.0c from microsoft.

also get the new microsoft antispyware program. Download.com gave it a 5 out of 5...microsoft got something right for once.

and again. ur comp will be running like jesus on an ice pond without sandles
