And make sure to update your anti-virus, SpybotSD, and AdAware before scanning.

Yes there is a way to remove Internet Explorer, but it is not recomended as IE is required for windows update.

Though if I keep it, it'll still bring pop-ups correct? or if you use firefox and not it, the pop ups won't appear? I know some things coimputers, but this IE I have no idea about.

Just don't ever open it for anything but windows update and it should be fine.

too bad msn's bundled with IE, every link clicked in MSN opens in IE.

The newest version of IE does come with a pop-up blocker. Now all they have to do is make it block spyware, adaware, viruses, and make it render pages correctly and it'll be good.

These pop-ups still occur because they are caused by little programs that are hidden in your computer. These little programs check weither you have access to the internet at the time, not weither your using IE. That's why the pop-ups are still occuring. Just run the spybot and adaware programs. Both of them work very well together to clean up the computer.

It is annoying about certain javascripts though. Any time I try to view a javasscript that show a "last updated" legend, mouse over alerts, or one that showed a message in the status bar it blocked it. Quite bothersome when trying to write up a nice webpage.

Not true. The only link that opens in IE for me (using msn messenger) is the check your inbox link. Everything else (ie. people message me links etc.) opens in FireFox for me.

There was some setting i was given the option to change to whether links in applications open in FireFox... so i definitly said yes... unfortunately, i don't know when this setting popped up :/

If the ads come from MSN messenger theres a tweak at TweakXP.com that will get rid of them:

Worked for me ;) ... guess it only works for xp though...
