Hotmail doesn't open links by clicking them, you have to copy and paste, and we know hotmail.msn.com is legit, so it works out (I sign up for things that I don't trust not to give out my email with a hotmail account).

forget hotmail gmail all the wayyyyyy!

Hotmail works just fine for me, i kinda prefer it to GMail. Hence why my GMail account has gone unused since i got it basically, and my hotmail is used pretty much everyday.

I have Gmail too, but I like that I can use hotmail with outlook (my account is old). Gmail isn't as friendly with outlook. Email is email to me anyway.

I guess I'm the only one having probs, I cut my junk mail filter to Low, I'll see if that helps. I wasn't using it anyway. Haven't had any junk

Yet another reason not to use Hotmail IMO

Well this hasn't happened to me strangly, dunno what they're playing at. It obviously seems legitimate, but I have no idea why they're being so stupid with you

I always thought Microsoft was silly :/

Ahem, sorry to hear that. I don't got any problem like that at all. Maybe you could change your email. You can use this old oen for IMing and a new one for whatever reasons!

Hey speaking of gmail what's 'gmail invites' or whatever?

A GMail invite is what someone can send to you so you can get GMail. Currently it's the only way to get a GMail account. Basically they enter your current e-mail address (such as an @hotmail.com or @yahoo.com one), and an invite is sent. You click the link in the invite and can get your own GMail account. Wheee ^_^

Doesn't Hotmail/MSN have some sort of spoof address to report Hotmail/MSN staff impersonations/spoofs like spoof@hotmail.com or spoof@msn.com?

Anyway, that email sounds like it wouldn't come from Hotmail/MSN staff. And generally, links in these spoof mailings may *look* like they take you to the real site when it doesn't.

For example:
https://www.paypal.com/

So, where does that link take you? Ok, it is a little more complicated then that as they use 7-BIT Printable ASCII Characters like a which is a lowercase a.

I never actually followed the link. The subject of the message was something like "go to hotmail", I did, I logged in and then it asked me to verify. I think I'll just stick to Gmail, might be safer :D. Thanx folks
