Is it just me or is there a lack of maturity in this topic. I mean people were shot and all most of you care about is blaiming New York and bragging about how where you live is so much safer. That's kinda sick...  <_<

all i was pointing out was that there IS a higher crime rate in the USA than Canada due to the fact that almost everyone has guns.

Almost everyone? Hahaha, I don't think so. Try checking your facts first, eh?

Canadas gun laws are a lot less tight so on average more of canadains owns a gun the americans. Most canadian use it just for hunting, but check your facts as Lothy  said.

Ramdom Fact: Almost 80% of the canadian population is within 100 miles of the american border.

It sounded to be like he said most Americans had guns. Which certainly isn't the case. Not sure now what he meant....

That's completely wrong.
Study after study has shown that the higher the percentage of people with guns, and particularly the higher percentage of people with concealed weapons permits for those guns, the lower the crime rate.

Which makes sense, if you actually stop to think about it instead of just believing the propaganda.

Criminals tend to not obey the law, which is why they're criminals. :r
When you pass legislation making it unlawful to carry or conceal guns or any weapons for that matter, all you're really doing is giving the criminals an advantage by denying law abiding citizens methods of protecting themselves while the criminals ignore such legislation.

The same thing happens with other things as well.
A relative example would be school.
There's going to be some bullies in almost any school, and who do they bully?
The kids who are just as big as them and know how to fight as well as them?
An equal match?
Not likely, unless they have a serious mental disorder.
They're going to bully smaller kids and/or ones who can't or won't fight, pretty much without exception.

You wouldn't try to rob a convenience store if it was anywhere near likely that half of the customers were carrying loaded guns, would you?
No?
Neither would I.
In fact, I probably wouldn't even insult the store clerk for being slow.

Guns are not the issue in America.
Americans and American culture are the issue in America, and the sooner everyone realizes that, the better.

Actually your fact is wrong. It's illigal guns, anyone can go into Canada with an illigal gun, just like anyone can go into any country with an illigal gun. Take this fact, all hunters in the USA only have 20 accidents with guns. Think about it, if there is about 2 million hunters in the US then 20 accidents not all being fatal that's pretty good odds. And also another thing they aren't crime. So your stereo typing again. >_<

I just read Phrank's post, I just basically dittod his point.

I never expected anything like this to happen at my own home town. There was a shooting today at The Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston, NY which is the town I live in. They have caught one of the suspects, but there are rumors that one or two gunmen are still on the loose. CNN has some footage on this issue. Thank God all my friends and family are all safe at home.

Did anyone die??? :o

Yes, actually. :r
And I'll be over 35 by the time the next election rolls around.
However, I'm fairly certain I'd either be assassinated or illegally surveilled, and there's all sorts of naughty chat records and other things to be dug up and used against me and all that, so.. yeah, it would be interesting, for sure, but.. meh.

And I know many of you would love to think I'm some liberal nutjob, but I assure you I'm not.
I'm an idealistic rationalist, with objectivist tendencies.
The "conservative" viewpoint on gun control is rational and reasonable.
I know there's a couple other things the conservatives believe which make sense, but I can't think of any offhand. B)
