Ads, and TOS Question

Hi,

I'm wondering something about advertisments. I understand that the IF tos states that you cannot have your own google ad on your InvisionFree forum unless you purchase ad removal. Does this same restriction apply in this case?

http://s6.invisionfree.com/quickarcade/index.php?act=SR&f=13

I am framing a site there, into my IF board. The shoutbox is a frame too. They're not on InvisionFree's server, they're on my own remote hosting.

Is it against the rules, to have a google ad on my own hosting, In this case?

Just wanted to clarify this, thank you for your time.

Where would the ad show up?
We probably would not approve of it without checking with google.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The ad would appear on http://jcinkcom.ho8.com/quickarcade/q/play...0&show=7&page=1

Totally offsite from InvisionFree. Probably in either the footer or header of that page.

Howdy IF Staff, i'm a staff member of PHP quick arcade and i was wondering about something

see since the Release of PHP Quickarcade you say, there can't be ads place by US on the IF forums cus thats againest the TOS.

but i have aother concern... what about the Hosts 100webspace, fat-host, etc they have small ads on there pages that host our arcades In a frame that we put on IF boards, is this againest the TOS aswell?

cus if so we at QuickArcade dont want anyones forums to be deleted because of a small ad.

Please a IF Staff Member Reply ,

Thanks for your time,
Dylan

Yes this is a concern to us now. The type of advertising being displayed appears like this:

http://jcink.mybesthost.com/Arcade.php

See the strip across the top? A small text strip.

Is this against the TOS? This isn't put there by the user, its by the host.

Also, are forced-ads by the host against TOS if they're google or other?

Thanks,
jcink

Moving this to IF Chat, as it's more of a question about the rules than a support topic, and so it won't get buried.

Thanks PhranK.

Because this topic may be a little confusing, here is the exact problem we're having. We're really unsure if this is against the TOS in any way. The question I asked first in this topic in turn created the new one below too, and we just want to make sure we're good with the TOS.

I'm from http://s6.invisionfree.com/quickarcade and I make the program [ ( PHP-Quick-Arcade ) ]

Currently in our guide we Reccommend the provider 100webspace ( we're in no way affiliated with them - only reccommended because it has what the arcade needs and is a decent host )

100webspace displays an ad across the top of their pages. For an example of the ad see : http://jcink.mybesthost.com/Arcade.php

Currently the directions go that, you are supposed to host the arcade there, and frame it in an iframe on InvisionFree in board rules. As seen here: http://s6.invisionfree.com/quickarcade/index.php?act=SR&f=13

I have some questions reguarding this, concerning the TOS and ads.

Firstly, if ANY type of ad isn't yours and they're being forced on you by a webhost - such as 100webspace - is this okay to frame the page anyway into your IF site since the ads aren't being displayed anywhere on InvisionFree servers, technically?

Secondly, do the ads by 100webspace as they are now, break any rule in the TOS?

Thanks for your time,
Jcink
