As i was browsing thru some boards..i come to realise that some of those boards (not naming anyone of them in specific) has way too much mod and hacks within a board. I think its really the best that a board should stay simple and nice and yet still have enuff attracting features but not too much. Although mods and hacks are great things to spice up the board but i think adding too much mods and hacks might just confuse the members and guests even more and may mislead them in the wrong direction  . |

I dunno. o_o I think you can add as many mods/hacks as ya want, as LONG as you explain them right and organize em' good. |

i agree typhoon, i mean its perfectly ok it just igzacly like he said u do need to occasionnally update them and keep em organized. for igzample i know a lot of people might disagree with me but if you look at iceworks design now a days the gradiants they have are ofcourse of a very high standart and the web site is great its just that th afillatae table they have and the gradiants they put are a bit kind of messed the text bit is a bit small so it doesent look good. i eman the graphics are fine. its just thta thats what happens when u add too many mods and hacks. dirty-devil |

Eh.. I think they meant mods and hacks people have added to their own forums. Like some I've seen with a flashing scrollbar, clock cursor, text flying around in the status bar, scrolling affiliates, and God knows what else. Why, I went to one yesterday to help with a support topic and got dizzy from so much crap moving around. One of these days, somebody is going to fall out of their seat because of it and hit their head and file a lawsuit.

Oh. Yeah. >_< I'm too focused on my obsession (the huge number of codes in the code section here -- crappy codes), methinks  |

I use a number of codes, but I would basically use none if I had access to the PHP. What my codes do is remove certain things (like usernumber and member group in posts), change things (like "My Controls"), and remove sections (like the "Forum Topics" rows). I basically have zero "feature" codes, just ones that change how it looks. That actually can become problematic, because as you try to make your forum look better (removing "clutter") you're really adding code "clutter." |
