Are Invisionfree boards "real" Invision Power Boards ?

Whats the big differences, beside that you do not get database access and access to the source files of the Invisionfree board ?

Thats the reason for my questions B)

And if the Invisionfree boards are "real" Invision Power Boards, should there not be a license for each board ?

I believe Duffy bought a lifetime license in order to start up hence no need for a license per board.

The whole point is that IF is a free version built from the ground up with differences and come v2.0 it will be even more different (hurrah ^_^). But IF and IPB are two seperate companies/forum providers/whatever you wish to call them.

InvisionPowerBoard has a lot of differences from IF. Their Admin CP is way more diffilcult then IPB. Everything would be extremly hard for a noob trying to handle a forum.

Invision Power Board is just the system, so you'd also have to buy hosting on a monthly/yearly basis too, one which includes PHP and MySQL access. Depending on the size of your board, you may have to buy additional bandwidth too...

Supposedly IF offers better support, though I can't personally verify that, but it's quite possible, since our staff and members really don't have anything better to do.

I can verify that, from the large number of complaints from IPS Customers about insufficient support. :/ Which is kind of dumb, because they moved to totally paid Support, at first, because they wanted to focus more on Supporting the paying Customers. They did a real good job of that, as you can probably guess. Idiots...

Depending on your payment option, or whether you're hosting the board yourself, then yes, you would receive FTP access.

In regards to the post by Jeremy:

There were instances of which they totally neglected free support, when they were in the transition period.. They were implying that the free support was just courtesy service..

Not wanting to start a flame war, just pointing out that IF support is better.. :)

@Jeremy: Ha! Im not the only one.. :)

One of the advantages of IPB over InvisionFree is that there are official modules you can purchase. I recently purchased the blog module, and it's nice!
