Also, when you see one of the blue gals/guys reading the topic, it's in good hands.

If you don't see a Edit sign, and that person says "Oops, I'm beaten!", then that is fake. That person is just trying to get posts. I think that people do this on purpose just to get their post count higher.

I don't know, I kind of hate the whole 'You beat me' deal. There shouldn't even be a great chance of that happening if you look who is viewing a topic before replying, or Preview Post right before posting it.

It kind of makes the supporters sound like they are racing. Like you are running a race and at the finish line the second place man turns to the winner saying "Congratulations, you beat me. I wasn't fast enough." :stefan:

Bah @ Double Answers. It really is a race, usually to impress someone. I must have typed 3 full pages of posts that I never posted due to the fact that someone jumped out of nowhere and posted. :arr: The best way to solve that is to check if anyone other than the topic starter is viewing the topic.
If it really gets bad, however, stricter rules should be put in place or a new support group made just for the General Support Forum. :ermm:
Of course, the support volunteers rule took down many of those spammers/double posters, but they always come back, nearly always for a post increase. :r
Maybe there can be a feature/code that will automatically show any new post in a topic you are currently posting in. :w00t:
Oh, and Support volunteers are mostly just a few members that just want to act all profressional and stuff and give random answers.

I think I technally ditto'd everyone who posted in ths topic >_<

:r

This only happened to me about 5 times yesterday. :arr:
And I might end up posting 6 or even 10 minutes after somebody has posted a correct answer, because I generally take the time to give the best answers I can.
Even checking my spelling, occasionally. :r

It's not just about staff though.
If you go in a support topic and see that there's already somebody else besides the topic starter viewing it, wait a minute or two and come back to it and see if they posted or not, and if so, whether it was a good post.
If they're still there but haven't posted, and especially if you recognize their name and know they know their stuff and give good support, and particularly if they're staff, wait even longer or just leave it and go on to something else, because chances are they have multiple windows or tabs open and are viewing the documentation or their own Admin CP or something and will be posting a thorough response soon enough, and they'll likely be pissed off at you and anybody else who's come along and posted while they were going to all that effort, regardless of whether you answered correctly or not.

We don't need the best supporters here, who take the time to make sure they're giving the best answers possible, to get upset and stop giving support, because others are racing to give support and wasting their time.

Seems common sense to me, but apparently not.

this accually happens to me a bit, im typing up my answer and when i hit submitt, about 3 times outta 10, theres someone else who posts the same thing at the same time as me...... I mean the same exact minute, no different in posting times.

I for one, am not a person who cares about post count, i just try to give good support. I've said it before, and i'll say it again, i dont post to up my count, heck, the all mighty admins could put me at -1,000,000,000 and i wouldn't care.

I would just like better if they did it on accident and they could edit their post and say "I'm beaten, sorry."

Not like this.

Exactly. It's half the reason I personally have almost given up trying to help people.

Although I still do occasionally, that's only when hardly anyone is in them support forums and there's little or no danger of the 'volunteers' doing irritating things like that
