You've started a new forum and don't have anybody visiting, much less posting? To get people to acually know what your forum is, then try a few of my tricks (and others too). Tell your friends. Tell your friends about this new forum. Give them the link and as being the friends they are, they'll probably join. The harder part of this is getting them posting. Ask your friends to tell a few of their friends, and htose friends to tell a few of their friends Etc... put the link in your sig.Put the link to your forum in your sig at other forums you are a member at. if you have a banner, link to your forum from your banner. If you don't know how to do this, then just follow this:
just delete everything in these "(" ")" brackets, and replace them with what is asked for. Post your link for review.A little trick just to get people to see your site is to post it up asking for a review. Make sure the forum you are posting this does reviews. if they don't do reviews, then make sure they allow posted links to other forums. I've done this many times to get a few of my forums back out there. ![]() Submit to search engines. The likelyhood of your forum be seen is increased by you submitting your forum to different search engines. Try submitting to these: http://www.dogpile.com/ http://www.google.com/ http://www.yahoo.com/ http://www.webcrawler.com/ http://www.altavista.com/ http://www.gwmap.com/ http://www.hotbot.com/ http://www.ask.com/ http://www.about.com/ http://www.overture.com/ http://www.teoma.com/ http://www.alltheweb.com/ Affiliate. Ask other forum administrators if they would like to affiliate with you. Try to make sure the forum you want to affiliate with is a well known forum, and that both of your forums have the same subject. Get YOUR user name out there too. When people know you and want to get to know you better, they will try to see if you have a forum to talk more to you with. Also, if they see a link to your forum you posted, they will be more willing to click it because they know your name. ![]() submit to many topsites. This is similar to submitting to search engines, but I feel it deserves it's own paragraph. When you join a topsite and put the link to it on your forum, you will get many people viewing your forum. Don't over do it though. I say 10 is the max number of topsite links you should have at first, then as you get bigger, take away some of the topsite you aren't doing so well it. Have friendships with other admins. By having a friendship with another admin, you could sometime ask if they would mind posting your link in their forum asking his or her members to take a look to help you out. The members know and trust their admin, so they will be more willing to click the link. This ties in with the other point I made about getting your name out there. The more well known, the more clicks. |

Yeah, but jaded or not, at least try to remember that not everyone is a good typist, and not everyone is great with English, especially those for whom it's a second or even third language. So unless somebody is 7yp1ng 1n 1337 or otherwise being DeLiBeRaTeLy ObNoXiOuS, keep your comments about their typing and English skills to yourself, or they could be treated as the spam they are and earn you a warning. Back on topic now? |
