To break it down, the PS3 can perform twice as many operations per second than the XBOX 360 can. And seeing as the new XBOX is impressive on it's own, Sony's feat is amazing. The Cell processor is a major technical feat.

The graphics capability are said to be the best and most advanced in the world. The GPU found in the PS3 is equivalent (if not better than) to two of the latest NVidia graphics cards, which would cost the consumer $1000. To put this into a games console is amazing.

The new console also is capable of having 7 controllers connected via BlueTooth. 7. Yes, Seven. It is also backwards compatable with PS and PS2 games (emulated by the Cell), so you can play all your old favourites on the new system.

To be honest, the games are what really showcase the console at the moment, until more technical details are released.

Fight Night
Killzone 2 <-- incredible
The Getaway

hehe, except that it clearly does? PS3 has twice the processing power, graphics capabilities that are twice as good as what is currently on the market, much more input/output capabilities and backwards compatability (the 360 might provide this, but it's not clear yet).

Don't get me wrong, the xbox is a great machine too, and it looks like we will have one in our house next year (next student year :P), but i personally feel the PS3 is a better gaming machine.

i like nintendo fo their games, but i hate them so much for their sharing of info, we need to know what it can do and how it'll look. though the guys at nintendo are porbably a bit scared now with their "gameplay above graphics" stuff. i agree that gameplay is important but if it still has gamecube graphics... agains what i just saw on the vid's... not good ;) .

but we shall see. and i have no idea wich one is better even if i see both of the spec-sheets.
just gotta wait 'till we get the defenite launch-game lists of the consoles, 'cause thats whats most important in the end. wonder if microsoft can convince me this time ;)

You said it. I don't really care about all the graphics and processing cababilities, so long as it's not a new system with the power and graphics of a SNES.

SNES, NES, Sega Genesis, all of those own your grandmother, respect your elders

Im not entering the console wars, because plain and simple, I want xbox live, and PS2 isnt gonna do that for me.

Same here, the largest gaming community ever created, also I wouldnt doubt if Microsoft seeing those stats puts another couple of millions into creating a PS3 killing machine.
