Possibly it did, though you should back it up with some information.

It did not happen. What part of the internet does not exist do you not understand? :@

Calm down, you might give yourself an ulcer. And in any case, I wasn't taking any sides, so that is why I said what I did. ;)

I hope that those 9000 boards are recovered. They may have been backed up; but even if they were, it's still a disaster isn't it?

The Internet itself can't be hacked, it isn't one single thing, it's many different servers and computers networked together. It wouldn't be possible to hack it.

They lost details of where people paid for premium services, so yeah, I expect many people aren't happy with a loss of money.

Who would be so mean!?
Its so sad the way people are! They need to be put in prison if they find the people responsible! I feel bad for the board owners!

Oh wow. Those poor board owners. All those posts. I'm so sick of these idiots wasting their time attacking websites. These people need lives.

Ditto, Yodamich. Ezboard was my forum starting point, also. I liked the service in the beginning. Poor Ezboard employees and especially board owners. Hope everything turns out all right, guys!

That's life for you. Whilst IF might be hackable, no one seems to have maliciously hacked it yet because it is still here :) So we can asuem that IF is quite secure.

Anyway, I symathise with EZBoard, as this is a great blow to their company. Hopefully they will get justice for their loss.

I have heard hackers single-handlingly bring down the internet...the WHOLE internet..for about 20 seconds

The simple solution to this is to download the internet onto your hard disk. Then you can access it at any time.

you'd need about a 1 trillion terabyte harddrive. At least.

Then you'd have the police knocking on your door for downloading a bunch of illegal stuff.

However, you could not have 'the whole internet' on your harddrive, even if there was such thing as a harddrive that big.

The whole internet includes private FTP servers, gaming servers (Xbox Live comes to mind), chatrooms, instant messaging, p2p networks, etc.

As was said before, the internet is not one solid unit. It is a bunch of computers connecting together.

Have you ever used a peer-to-peer network before? Napster, KaZaA, and BitTorrent come to mind. Your computer connects directly to other computers to collect data. Web-browsing is similar, but you're connecting to a dedicated server, giving a faster connection.

I know, I was only joking!

Getting back on topic, It'd be really bad if IF got cracked wouldn't it?

As Seth said, IF cannot be hacked as a whole, but individual boards can be cracked simply because of carelessness.

Good thing IF is more secure :ermm: I would hate to be one of those 9,000.

Or are we just better liked?\

Everything CAN be hacked. The US gov has been hacked, and your telling me IF is more secure? Seth said were more secure, not that it was virtuall impossiable to hack.

Each board is nearly impossiable to get into without cracking, because the admin session url is encoded using a high encription method, and changes all the time.

The second part's a good point-but the first..not so much. :P I believe that to connect to any of the servers, you'd have to access them through Duffy's own PC [correct me if I'm wrong, and I could be. :arr:.]

So, it's immune to the hacking you're thinking of. And like I've said-IF is VERY secure. Which means your typical script-kiddie hacker can't get in-and those that're skilled enough to do it..probably could only damage a server or so [unless the access into the servers goes through the same process? o_o.] And I personally think Brandon has things backed up to an extent, so I doubt it'd be "OH NOES IF GONE 4EVA!".

..But, "I could be wrong"(tm). :r
