A blast from the past.

Prices for IPB
Yearly license $69.95 wiht support/upgrades for a year (you can use IPB after the Year license is over)
Perpetual license $185.00 with support for a year(then just 30USD for support a year)and upgrades for life

Personally I like vB alot more then IPB. I don't know why, but I feel as though vB can manage a forum much more efficiently then IPB can.

i think vb is horrible
invision free is the best along side with phpbb

1.) InvisionFree is not a forum software.

2.) phpBB is not that good. :P

Either way, the second best forum software out there is MyTopix.

IPB has a more proffesional look to it than vB. VBulletin looks rather cluttered compared to Invision IMO. PHPbb is a good forum if you want an easy hacking and PunBB is good for standards compliant, but not so much for features. I'd rather code my own forums than use any premade forum software. That way I can add features that I want and have it look the way I want.

IPB all the way, phpBB is good it's just that it's so complicated and it takes an expert coder just to create a skin. With vBulletin their forums take forever to load and I don't like the way their forum index is set-up, everything on IPB is perfect, it isn't hard to create a skin, the Admin CP is easy to learn, it's extremely customizable, I could name a 1000 more things.

i dont like phpbb it suxs real badly

proboards also suxs real badly

cant coment on mytopix havent tryed it yet

screw vb u have to pay alomst 200 bucks for a forum Removed that

so it pretty much leads to IPB i dont mind 70 bucks for a forum

Please do not use *'s to get around the word filter, it's there for a reason. ;)

only problem with IPB is that you have to pay monthly (if you just have to pay just once and that's it. that'd be nice) to use the software.  I'd rather use a free host that gives IPB. and version most perfebley 2.x.x.

err you wont see a 2.x.x on any server unless its IPB hosting. to use it

Atcually, you can purchase a licence and put an IPB 2.x.x board up, but it's something like $200 per board.

if it just 180 dollars (I think) and payed once. I'd like that oppsed to paying like 50 dollars every month (if I get a perp)

If you don't want a license, get hosted on IPB. Select $20 package, fill in the details, wait for your forum to validate, then you've got yourself an IPB 2.0.x all up.

vB is really nice. *The Balrog runs and hides*

But seriously, 3.5 will be great. If I were to buy a forum, I'd probably choose vB over IPB 2.x.

Kadaj, v-Bulletin Skins can be very nice, if done properly.
