I've seen countless signatures all telling me to get firefox and such. Could someone provide a list of what the difference is between ie and others. Internet Explorer seems to work fine for me. What makes the others so great?

Unfortunately, the topic of what browser is "best" comes down to browser bashing too often to stimulate intellectual debate.

Keep in mind that Internet Explorer uses a lot of proprietary (eg; Microsoft-created) HTML, CSS, and JavaScript tags (such as coloured scrollbars) that are not in the W3C specifications. So in many cases, the other browsers are not at fault, blame Internet Explorer for not complying with the recognized authority on the Web. ;)

If you want to see some information about four alternatives to Internet Explorer, try Browsers at Browse Happy.

Best things about Firefox-
Safer than IE
Extension, meaning you can download add-ons
Tabbed browsing
CSS3 compatiblity
Proper rendering Engine

Common misconseptions-
IE is faster
--Well this is true, but only by a little
Ie displays Javascript properly while firefox dosn't
--Wrong. FifreoFox dosn't display some Javascript because it is improperly coded.

and another thing IE does, which can be a good thing. IE has a built in system to fox a small HTML coding error, the problem with this is if you do something right when IE thinks it's wrong it'll look very messed up.

I'm not 100% sure about that but I was told that from a friend. msn.com was acting weird for me in IE, and he said it was because IE was jumbling around code that was perfectly fine.

Alright. I think I'll try Firefox. It looks like it's the most popular one to use.

You can, I did it on my dialup and it was fast, never tried it on broadband, but what does it actually do when you tweak it?
