Alright, I know this will sound horrible but it's been something I've been told before. If you are going to go and do something incredibly stupid such as selling your free forum - please just don't tell us. Ambiguity is key in this instance. Don't go "Hey James - I've gotten all the basics worked out for selling my page but I need a buyer, got any ideas?" Instead just play it on the down-low - please!

I agree anf Shadow! :D It should be illegal to sell a forum hosted by Invision Free! I could understand it if it was an IPB Board that you were selling. But If it's invision Free people are going to buy these forums and fall for it, and then say OMG It's Free and I've just paid all that money when the ruddy service is free! :D

What makes your forum valuable, is the members that you have in it and the popularity of your forum.

Twilight is upon me, and soon night must fall.

IFSZ was a different situation. The owner tried to sell a site that wasn't theirs even though they owned the board itself.

To be as simple as possible,

you may sell access to your admin cp account, but ony to one that agrees to not only the Terms of Service, but also the Terms of Use and the Terms of Sale.

Any retard that's stupid enough to buy something that's hosted for free, are obviously mulleting idiots

Not necissarily, some forums like IFSZ lots of people would be willing to buy, me included but not for as much as it was going for. On thoe other hand i could probally not handle the stress put on IFSZ staff. :/ Even all staff on all forums.

On the other had while i dont think its wrong to sell IF boards i do think that it is not somethign easy to do, if you have raised a board for a long time and have gotten to feel how it works and how to handle thing simply handing it to someone you dont know on Ebay is a bad idea. So the situation that you should sell/buy an IF board is a small window in my opinion.

Just because the forum is hosted for free doesn't mean that it can not be profitable. Be creative, think out of the box, and most importantly, make sure you have a large devoted community with some cash. :r

I would buy IFSZ (If my parents let me..). I mean, you can get a forum hosted for free, and have 0 members, or you can buy a forum for a fiver, and have tons of members :/

But could everyone handle running a forum with 1,000,000 posts and 88,000 members?

I dont think anyone can handle a forum that big by themselves. Too much pressure.

If you had the time to keep it running and knew how things worked before you bought it sure, I'm sure several people could although the stress level would be through the roof.

I'm sure you can sell it but you can't sell your service. I think that's how it may work but you mayw ant to check with brandon first.
