Okay, thanks for the suggestions and feedback guys. Ive been banned so I havent been able to check here. Thank you to the guy that told me how to eliminate the "undefined" text. I was meaning to try removing the document.write text but I never did. Does anyone have ANY suggestions on how to get around the whole Firefox=Netscape thing. I mean, IPB boards can get a mod like that. So its possible. I dont see how IPB could do it if IF cannot do it. So anyone who has ANY idea, please post. |

we know the error with firefox/netscape, and i cant think of anything that could change that except maybe you can detect the actual name of the application instead of its platform, or you could take the easy way out and just say netscape or firefox as one choice, but other than that, its hard, and i just wanted to say, i tried the whole code(to test) and i think that the undefined was still there even though i got rid of document.write it works as just the browser detect script, but im not sure about the whole script |

On my testboard the undefined bit is gone. I just need to figure out how to do the browser detection. It wont recognize FF and stuff. >_< |

Your not going to get anywhere using navigator.appName. I suggest you use navigator.userAgent and pick out the information from there. Don't ask me how though because I'm no Javascript expert, but I know enough that a browser detection script based solely on navigator.appName will never be 100% true. |

Shoot. Sorry for dp, but when I used the userAgent, it said I was using Mozilla. It also said some other things, but I dont know why it would say Mozilla. |

Yes, IE's user-agent string starts with 'Mozilla', but you should ignore this. It's a left over from the browser wars I believe. The part you should be interested in when checking for IE is the 'MSIE' part. |
