I believe that PHP 5 does not come with MySQL installed right away. You need to configure it. To do that, open your php.ini file. Go to line 579 and uncomment: extension=php_msql.dll extension=php_mysql.dll Then restart Apache. Hopefully that'll work good.

You just have to uncomment the mysql one extension=php_mysql.dll and it should work.

Thanx, but I've been scouring the net all night and I've already tried that and no luck. I can't figure out why I seem to be having this much bother. |

You're sure you have MySQL installed correctly? If so, my suggestion would be to get PHP 4.4.0. I just installed it last night in >10 minutes, plus you might find that 4 is what you want anyways.

I'm pretty sure I have it installed properly. Do you know if there's much difference between 4.4.0 and 4.1.4? I more or less have to teach myself it with books I've bought and it will be difficult if there are differences |

Anything that works in 4.1.4 should work in 4.4.0. (As far as I know, the only difference is that some functions got extended in 4.2.0 and a memory bug got fixed in 4.4.0.) There are only big differences between (how do you call that?) 4.x.x and 5.x.x etc. So I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

Ack I read that wrong, I thought we were still on about MySQL :$. I didn't think 4.4.0 existed. Well all the books I have on PHP are for 5 so I'm not sure about using 4. I'm givin MySQL 4.0.26 a try. |
