It's dissapointing. Thats why I plan fun activities and often send out monthly newsletters so all the members know what is going on and so those lurkers that joined can become active. |

Several years of running boards have shown me that only about 5% of your members will be regular visitors and out of them, maybe 10% will post. Don't fret, it's just human nature. Think of your board as a newspaper. For instance, how many people write letters to the editor from all the subscribers and daily readers? |

I have a lot of members that dont post once they join, it is kind of sad, mine aswell at least introduce yourself. I dunno though, its nice to have a member join your board even if they dont post, but I would prefer them to post.

Some people join. Say on for an hour, post nothing, then leave. And quite a few people do it. |

A member will join on ANY forum if they find something interesting on the forum, therefore, that member will not post only if there is great activity, a lot of members there online each day to just get himself known and build his reputation. There are more cases though that I will explain later; In a documentation. |

Well, i had a board with about 1,300 members and about 50 actually posted, now i have another with 350+ and about 15-20 post..... but it takes sooooo long for member gain, especially with the limited things on IF unlike IB, with IB theres so much more hacks etc....better arcades, things like reputations etc... and none of them mess up like IF html hacks ya know.....but you do what you can

Every board is like that. I know this according to my experience. I had a board that I had 6 months ago using ipb server and managed to have just over 100 members register before it got cracked by hackers so I had to start over using this server, but the ones who posts are limited to about 5 to 10% of the total members, same thing on every board, at least on this server, I would say it's a bit easier to scout them. Some of them only sign on to play games in the arcade while some of them just check the topics and stay there for a little while and leave and comes back later to check if there is any new actions going on. It is not easy to gain new members and even if you do, it won't be easy to get them to post unless you are the owner of the large message boards like gamespot, or IGN.com. It's what recruiting more members that is the toughest. The more members you have, you will have better chance of getting some active posters. The problem is, gaining them isn't that easy. Oh well. |

I agree. Most board are like that. Like mine too. I want to start a Modding Community. But its hard to gain Members for it. The start-up is the hardest. But when you are running you will probably get more and more Members. I saw that on the IFusion-Forum. I guess they had a slow start too. But look now |

Pre-Register is a way to reach that. But heh, its costs amount of time to register 5000 peeps |

Speaking of which, what's the point of pre-registering? Just to register test accounts quickly or something? |
