Well out of the 15 members I have on my forum, 9 are active, 4 who have posted and could become active at anytime, and 2 who have never posted. The last user joined on November 7, 2005.

I should count myself lucky that I have only 2 members who have joined but have never posted.

well i ain't bashful. i'm new here and a newb in general. i have been looking around for about an hour. nice board. i must confess that i'm usually one of those lurkers that sign up and never post or revisit. sorry, but the reasons are many and varied. actually i do try introduce myself but most of the time i simply have nothing to say. most boards are just great to read. i get lots of good help and information. i will say that if a welcome thread or an intro thread isn't pinned near the top then i don't bother to post or sign up. so anyways i came here looking for info on something and i found a thread where somebody asked the same question i was gonna ask. so i'll follow that and see what develops. this has been a nice thread to read. sort of like seeing the mod or admin point of view. thanks. i do have 1 question while i'm here. i didn't see a welcome or intro thread. is there one?

thanks and good day

I have a bad case. 3,242 Members (at the time of this posting), only 6 people were actually remotely active.

My pleasure is to serve members not force them to post. If they do, good for them. They might get on staff or something but not liek I'm gonna force them to post.

It takes time and promotion.

Almost nobody gets a packed house overnight. I just completed a new forum for Gamera/Godzilla, and I don't expect to really see significant (as in more than a dozen) membership numbers until next spring or summer.

All you can do, if you believe in your forum, is keep at it. Keep adding fresh topics and fun things for your members to do (even if there aren't any). Pretend you have a small army of members. And promote, promote, promote[/i]!
Promote your site wherever and whenever possible (just don't be obnoxious about it...that just turns people off).

It also helps if you're an established member at other forums with a good track record of posting and not being rude or nasty. You'll make friends that way, and many of them will take an interest in your forums.

Just some thoughts.

On my forums I got 18 members. Me and another member post like. Another member posts quite often. Two toehr members just joined and did 20 posts but are still on often. The rest have 4 or less posts and go on never or every once in a while. Now I have pre-register so I can decide if they'll post or not.

well me i have 51 members and 3,168 posts.. 23 of them have posted nothing and 10 of them have posted less than 10.. but what really gets to me is when i have guests who sit on the forum index for like an hour.. and then if someone registers on the forum, where do they go? they go directly to the sex topics and then sit there for another 30 minutes.. after which they pull a "judy winslow" B)

I have over 300 members, some have never posted. But, I still have about 30 or 40 people that post each day with about 900-1100 posts a day. It explains why we have over 70,000 posts. :D

And we've only been around 4 months.
