Mine opened on May 10. To date, it has 17995 posts total. Of 57 members, 9 of them have never posted. Of the remaining 48, 17 of them remain active. The rest have either come for a few days and left, or made an introduction post and left.

Kinda depressing, really. -_-

My board isn't very active yet, but that doesn't discourage me from continuing to start topics to keep it alive.

My stat counter shows me that people are looking.

I think that some people might join without posting for this reason - it's easier to keep track of topics that way. When you log in, you can see which topics are new, which posts are new, etc. Some people might never post. They just want to lurk. But joining gives them the ability to keep track of the discussions better.

as long as these none posting members aren't sitting on the board and "spying" for other boards?

I know where my members have come from, as they came from links on other forums (not hosted by invision).. so I keep an eye on the forum's they've come from (as I'm a member too) to make sure that none of my hard work is stolen and the credit claimed by one of these none posters.

Paranoia gets me every time! LOL

Thanks. :)

Actually, I found a post on another board not too long ago by one of my members.

He said it was possibly the best forum he's been to.

I've got this problem too. I actually started a political club with the same general aim as the forum to try to get more people involved, but apparently I couldn't motivate people to show up to that either.

My girlfriend has had her board for over a year and basically suffers the same bloody problems as everyone else here.

I have to disagree with the persons suggesting search engines. For all the effort I've seen her submitting to these engines and trying to build page rank theres very little return.

The signature with a link to her board has worked best so far.

A interesting topic we've discussed together is her successful "my spaces" site. She joined last month and has over 5,000 views and close to 200 friends

The fascinating aspect is how microsoft has made it so bloody easy for people to come together to talk with each other. The whole idea of "my spaces" is built on bringing people together with ease of finding and talking to others with no wasted time of search engines or whatever else.

Where as with our forum board its pretty much isolated on its own little island waiting for some poor soul to wash up on the beach.

That's true! I get tons of guests, but none ever sign up and my members rarely post... Even if I do post they don't and that looks bad having tons of topics with no replys which makes guests not want to join even more.... I tried posting with different accounts to make it look active and that didn't help... How I miss the days of having 15+ people on my board.....

Well I personally cant complain too about the Traffic on my Boards. We have about 10 - 30 Guests each day, and now we have 71 Members. The Board has been created on thge 25th October. So it isnt that old.
But rarely someone posts. Thats a shame
