Without ESRB a 10 year old kid shopping on their own could buy a game created for an 18 year old audience without their parents knowing. It's very well to say that parents shouldn't allow their kids to do that, but my local supermarket is 300 metres away and my mum would send me to buy small items from time to time when I was a kid and I'd go with my pocket money, quite easy to buy a game at the same time. My parents used the ESRB as a guide and would buy me games I wasn't aged to buy, but I think the age restrictions should still apply.

ESRB is helpful sometimes, but I've seen cases where they rate games inaccurately. But I dont really find them useful as I typically play Sonic games anyway, which are usually E-T rated.

Also I think this should be in gaming discussion

Umm M is 17+ AO I think is 21(or was that 18)+

M = 17+
AO = 18+

Which of course makes all the sense in the world :rolleyes:

Oh, and I don't trust what the ESRB says. The reviews are done by a group of 4 people per game, none of whom actually play video games. For the most part, they go on game developer's information and previews.

Do you believe that the esrb is useless? Do parents have the right to sue the video game makers? Why or Why not? B)

Yes. No. Parents should control what their kids can and can't do, not a company, or goverment.

The ESRB just helps the parents choose by starting whats in the game. it is THE parents choice for the kids to get the game (espicay M games) if the store follows the rules too (which is rare)

Sure the rating can help, but the store should let you buy anything, because the parent should either have taught their kid not to buy games they don't approve of, or they moniter what they play.
