Wel i was gonna start up a reviewing/previewing team that would review and preview new games for my forum. Well i was looking for a leader of this team and a person offered to be it, i read their post where they offered to be the leader but i never replied because i had to think about it, But then i come back to reply with my answer an hour later, and i see this persons post has disappeared and someone else had offered to lead the team (this someone else is a mod) Well I thought it was very odd that the first person post was deleted and now this mod person was offering to do the same thing as the person who's post was deleted. And well i checked the moderating logs, and i saw that the mod that offered to lead the team had deleted the first person post because he wanted to lead the team. So in other words the mod abused his mod powers, so he could be the leader of this team. Well it's obvious that I'm not gonna let this mod be the leader of the team because i caught the mod red handed, BUT shoudl i ban this member? just give them a warning? A take away this person mod powers? |

It depends. I'd talk to your mod about it, and why he thinks he can do the job. If hes done it before (abused powers), I'd take mod powers. |

I think you should take away their mod powers. But that might cause the person to quit. But anyone abusing their power I would do that. |

If you know for a fact he deleted the original post for the sole purpose of getting the job himself, a removal of moderation powers would be unavoidable in my opinion. Anyone who abuses power on your forum doesn't deserve it and can potentially cause trouble. Now as far as a banning goes, I don't know. Did he break and board rules? In this case, he probably didn't, so I would allow him to stay for the time being, just without power. Also, make sure to apologize to the member who had his/her post deleted. They probably won't be happy when they see it, so make sure you explain that someone abused their power to delete their post, and that the issue has been taken care of. If you haven't come to a decision on who you want to give the job to, at least urge the user to re-post their application. Make sure they don't leave due to the foolishness of one of your (former) staff members. |

I agree. That's definitely an abuse of power, and a clear sign of a lack of personal integrity. I'd demote the mod and not put them on the review team or give them any other priveleges, but would stop short of banning them. Though if they give you a bunch of grief about it, you may want to. If you can't remember the name of the person whose post was deleted, they'll probably post again asking what the hell is going on or something anyway, or you could post aking for them to re-post, but unless you can recognize their sig or something from the previous post, there could be a problem with people pretending it was them who'd posted before. :/ |
