I almost always notify people when I warn them, in part, because if I'm not suspending or post-disabling them or whatever, they may not know they've earned a warning otherwise, though I also usually make a comment when editing their post or sig if applicable.
Personally, I'd like everyone to be able to see not only their own warnings, but those of other members as well, since I think it gives people a better opportunity to make informed decisions about which members they're willing to trust or associate with.
From my understanding, we're planning on letting people view their own warnings after the upgrade, but not those of other members. :/
Still, it should help a little.

Thats good to hear

Warning levels are good for mods to keep track with

I've always liked using the warn system. It's a good way to keep spazzy people under control without outright banning them.

It's also fun to use as a prank against friends. Putting someone on warn lvl 5 for doing nothing is great for laughs, hehe.

Not that I've ever done that.

Ever.

Twilight is upon me, and soon night must fall.

Basically we don't allow it right now since we make the notes more for other staff to read so when they warn the user they know what they did. Warnings are more for us here. I personally rely a bit on them as it can say a lot about a user when you see a big red 5 under there name.
When adding a warn and suspending/disabling a user I always send a pm and email as to why. But sometimes I use the warn system to point out a problem a user may cause and to watch them. Others will just be verbal warnings. When that's the case, I write as much in the note. We tend to give out notes unless an admin tells us not to for a certain user.

Strange I didn't get told at all :/ I think that all staff should tell you.

How about this?

Staff and Admins want it that way and it will be their way. And if you don't do anything against the IF forum rules, why bother even worrying about the Warnings being hidden from you?

I'm not quite sure who stated it, I believe it was Phrank, though.
I completely agree, I wish we could see other members warn levels, not just ours.It would be of a great help if someone asked me to help them with coding, or something the like.If they had many warns, I wouldn't even reply, yet, if they had a very low amount of/no warnings, I would be glad to help them.
I beleive I have been PMed everytime I was warned(I do not know if my warn meter was altered, or if they just PMed me to tell me my signature size, or something was too big.)

This is a service, free, but nevertheless a service. As such, some people who run the sevice doubtless want to hear feedback/good suggestions so as to improve their service to the people they provide it to. Accordingly, asking a question/making a request isn't a bad thing, if no one spoke up the staff might make a service that no one really cared for, and that wouldn't be used, thus wasting their time.

Wouldnt Staff think of that as SPAM PMing. Asking about their warn level?

I Dont think Ive been warned before, Maybe for a signature mishap (too large or something) but I dont think so

I try to be careful tho, I wouldnt want someone Disobeying rules on My forums, So why do it on others....

I have to agree with this, yes warnings are mainly for administration, and mods to see. Yet I feel other members should be able to view everyones warning level, its like being able to look at someone in real life and automatically know their criminal backround, if they are bad, or good. It indicates if you can trust them or not, otherwise your members are running blind until something happens. Then it's to late, or you just ban that certain person, but if it can be helped to save another members ahead of time from something why not just making the warn level viewable? It would make me a lot happier if I was a member to be able to view someone elses warn level. If someone doesn't like it that their warn level is on display tough for them, then don't break the rules.

Out of curiosity, why hide it when you are so eager to provide the answers via PM?

Or, do you not always reveal the warn level?
