Huh?

I think what they mean is they tell people they are warned, because members can't see their own warn level. Thats why you typically pm them to tell them they've been warned.

Wouldnt Staff think of that as SPAM PMing. Asking about their warn level?

No. We've always been happy to provide a warning report via PM.

I do think open warn levels would be a good deterent for offenders; who wants everyone knowing they spammed several times and received punishment for it and subsequently can't be trusted? Or that they've given incorrect support and been warned about it - not exactly someone you want answering your questions, right?

On the other hand, it might spark issues, such as people poking fun or flaming someone because they have warns. Though, if it's implemented after the upgrade then it's easier to get on top of.

Out of curiosity, why hide it when you are so eager to provide the answers via PM?

Or, do you not always reveal the warn level?

I think it was pretty much decided that with the way the system is right now, it's better left to us. Come the upgrade I've heard talk of a note system being which allows us to seperate official warns from notes to other staff members. We currently use the warn system to note things too. The notes we create are designed for staff view only usually, warns on the other hand are not really private knowledge to my mind (though I'm not sure where we stand on the specifics of issues).

As for the second question, I don't think people are denied knowing their warns. Though since it's done via PM, I can't speak for other staff.

Twilight is upon me, and soon night must fall.

Also when we pm the warns we tend to remove the who gave the warn and any comments meant for staff. Its most likely because of this we prefer to pm warns when asked.

For example Someone would get a list like this

December 15, 2005 Flamed So and So in this topic.
November 28, 2005 Spam
September 06, 2005 Backseat Moderation

The links some times get removed since they go to the trash can. But that's basically what someone gets when they request their notes. :/

I think that users should be able to see there own Warning Levels in InvisionFree Support,so that they can smarten up. :/ . What do you think,do you asgree or disagree?

I totally agree, i screwed up when i was IF noob (well im still pretty noob [RE:IF Board Rules]) and i wanna know if my warn level is still up(if it went up) see i have no clue were im at.

That works.

I myself never bother to use the warning system. People on my board seem to listen after they've been told.

And if they don't? And are close to getting suspended? I pm them.

Ignore it? Suspended.

Okay, but what about allowing members to see only their own warn levels and not those of others? That wouldn't cause any of the problems listed, would it?

I only defend this because I used to have a very high warn level (I'm not even sure if I have one now...), and I had no idea of it.

Your warn notes are empty, which would seem to suggest that you've never been warned here at all. :ermm:
I don't think the admins ever actually delete warnings, if that can even be done, we just sometimes remove them if it's deserved, but that leaves the warning and adds an un-warning, so..

Anyway, I guess the issue is that if you can see your warning level, you can see your warn notes, and those warn notes currently contain a bunch of information meant only for staff, as was mentioned.
(including lots and lots of ruthless ridicule and "your momma" jokes)

I think we should be allowed to view our warn levels and notes for one day a year.
