Because the Admin CP banning system does not currently comply with PC serial numbers, and besides, there is no way a legal script could be created to do this. |

there can. Mine is not a script that blocks them mind you, you still have to keep up with banning their addresses. The best steps for blocking this guy is: 1. Email Validation 2. Make sure that a user has to have at least 20 posts or so before PM'ing privileges are given. Once they reach 20 posts, have them promoted to a regular member with PM priviliges. People always include Admin Validation, but I don't see how it can help if they are not registering with similar names and their IP Addresses change. |

Another guy with a changing IP. This happens, somethings you can do to prevent this issue from happening again: 1. Delete the member, rename your board after then email all the other members about it. 2. Stop his posting privlages for (x amount of days) meaning a moderator/admin needs to review it. Dont even try to review it. Ill think of more ideas. Hopefully, this can prevent certain in-appopriate activities to go on your forum. Pulse (aka Catalyst) |

what you should do is make identicle catagoies and forums on your site, and mess with the permission masks so that new members only see the secoundary sections and regular members only see the real sections then just review all the posts new members make to pick out whose going to spam and who isn't. the ones who don't spam get moved to the real sections and the spammers get removed. it worked for me! |

I know how you feel.I'm on a site where this person called Spamster kept spamming every topic we had....even saying very inappropriate(sp) things. Our Admins then banned him, but he came back as Spamster's Aprentice. then they banned his IP address and he eventualy went away...but they now have validation on...and that does stop alot of people, but not enough. I would definently put validation on. I wonder....could this be the same person cause i have seen one of those names on my friends site and he got the site from the board that was targeted :/ |

Even worse, Brandon reprted to k9ruby that it seems my IP traces to Beastman. If I can find him, I shall destroy him immediately. |

I hope you're not talking about something that would cause harm to his computer or something, as that would violate the TOS. Please explain here what you're talking about, and refrain from PM'ing anybody about it until you do so. Thanks.
We don't really need any talk like that either.
A noble goal, perhaps, but the wrong way to go about it. Though I doubt that's his motivation. |
