I knew nothing about setting up a forum, but when I tried IF due to all the good news I heard about them, I hit gold here! My forums (see sig) were so easy to setup, skin, code, and other stuff, I could not believe how nice it turned out.

I say go for it!

InvisionFree 2 is being released in the first quarter of 2006, so yeah, I think it is pretty certain.

What would be cool, is for there to be an option to download the board and put it on your site's host. :arr:

That is talking about IF 2.0, of course. :r

That would be SO much ftp access, they would never allow it. NEVER.

There is one other forum hoster that's better than IF. It's called [URL Removed due to previous spamming]. You get a skin chooser by default.

Would be cool but is not going to happen. Brandon I am sure bought this version from IPS and it would be asking for trouble to allow anyone to download this software.

This isn't entirely certain since they sayed it is an estimated time.

TrEXnEx everyone has mentioned some of the best things about IF so far and it is true, but the best thing I think about it is like Brandon says " InvisionFree will always be free".

It's called giving everyone an ftp account corresponding to the username and password they type in for the board. And when they put in the board name, that'll automatically be the only directory they have access to. Think before you say things. :ermm: (I hate arguing with people that don't know what they're talking about)

it depends on what you want/can (to) do with it, if you're just a casual user who just wants a simple message board to communicate with your members, then this is for you

but if you're an advanced user and wants to do much more with your board, then I wouldn't suggest this because InvisionFree took out many default features from IPB v1.3, and also you can't access FTP and the database, invisionfree is even "simplier" than IPB's old version (which is v1.3, now their newest version is 2.1.4, a huge gap between the 2)

InvisionFree: Easy CP, more user-friendly, completely free, fast, and is super customizable.Nothing needed to install, either.
The admin CP/mod CP is the most controlling - easy CP I've seen.Only board I will join.Has the best support, the staff here is impechable, and the "old" members/experianced members will always be ready to assist/help you with anything you need, if a staff member cannot get to your assistance fast enough.

phpBB: I've heard; terrible staff/support.Not user-friendly.I'm like whoever posted it above, I do not join phpBB boards.Just... suck.Lol.

vBulletin: Costs A LOT.Need to install tons. They're okay, but I'd prefer joining an IF board, than a vB board.Just something about vB, that makes me feel vulnerable (I know a few hackers/exploiters, and they've told me in their experiance that vB forums are the most vulnerable.)

Just get IF! Costs nothing, free, nothing needed on your computer (except internet :P).If you don't like, no space was wasted on your computer, no money was wasted, or anything.

Tip: If you do get an IF[InvisionFree] board, do *NOT* put "(Powered by InvisionFree)" or "(Powered by Invision Power Board)" in the name of your board. For some reason when you add "(Powered by ...)" it's easier for hackers/exploiters to find vulneralbilitys. It's nothing about IF, every forum system has that faulty.

Anyway: GET INVISIONFREE!!! (*keeps on chanting*)

Sincerely,
J. Oliver

Wait wait wait wait... That's not going to be the case when phpbb3 comes out this summer. :shifty:

Thanks for the help . . . .

and I seriously doubt "phpBB 3" will be any better than IF.

Oh, of couse if FTP was given out no one would abuse it, and put IF on their own site, remove the copyright, ect..
