If I'm willing to pay a company to get me high rankings on GOogle and Yahoo and bring in 50 guests or whatever at a time, anyone got any recommendations?

The best position you can get. Even better than the #1 rank for your keyword. It places your ad on google and on partner sites. Best for any webmaster who is willing to pay. ;)

You think if I do that, I can get on the first page?

You cant expect to pay your way to the top!

Search engine rankings are decided by many factors. You might get an odd appearance on sponsored links on gogle but it wont get you 50 guests at a time!

I suggest you get as many people as you can to swap links with you, Join as many top sites and directories as you can and add your site for free to search engine submission sites, I have got first page ranking and it happened quickly plus it was free, heres a few links to get you started.

Not that hard. I managed to do it twice.

I won't give away exactly how I did it. But I'll give one sure-fire method. It's not so much how many times you list the site in places as to WHO links to your site.

For example, spamming forums to hold a link for you isn't that effective. But once I created a website for a little biology society me and my friends created, I asked the right people to link to me and I was soon number one.

Work on a good site and not what you think Google will think is a good site. There's no point in trying to beat the google-bot, because his coding changes quite often. Google makes more money off google-bot than you'll probably ever make off of yours so its practically their job to stay ahead. But if you make a really good site and just concentrate on that then Google will start to notice. My best example of this is the site I'm running now... within 2 years my website has gone through 3-4 major changes where the title changed and so did the content and even the URL of my site changed. My old URL use to be #1 and was once "lost" to GoDaddy ... I did worry, but then I bought a new URL from yahoo and after a few weeks Google found my site again and put me back on #1 ahead of the competing sites who never lost their URL :P .

..and that's the other thing: Don't be afraid to make your site fresh! If your content gets stale then so will your rating (unless the content is really good and people are using it frequently.)

........in case you think I'm speaking nonesense, I will say that a lot of what I said has been retold to me by other people who have #1 sites.

Will you PM me how you did it?

EDIT: Who ARE the right people to exchange links with?

I just replied how I did it here. So please don't PM me asking how.

If you want specifics, I'll give you a slight example. For one of my sites (this is actually a 3rd site that I made that makes it to #1) I knew a person who owned an extremely popular website. Not only was it a #1 site but it had a page-rank of like 8. So I did some work for him to help his ownsite... and in return all I asked was that my site (which I had created only days before) be listed on his main page. It soon became number one...and even though I left it and don't work on it anymore it still gets listed very high.

So just try to affiliate with the most popular sites you can find, if necessary?

Well that helps, but it also matters what that site offers as content.

For example if you have a football site and you list it on a popular "Barbie-dollls" site... that'd be good. Google will actually notice that. However, if you list your football site on a popular sports site..that'd be even better.

So, if I can affiliate or have it listed on a football site with 3000 members and 200,000 posts, lets say, Google will actually notice that?
