IPB; Hypothetically

OK, please just hear me out and answer my question. I've submitted a support ticket already concerning this. Anyway, if I want to upgrade my board to the latest IPB 2.1 or whatever, but I have so many members and posts, it says "Open a sales ticket". Will it cost ALOT?

My other question is that with IPB, comes hosting, right? Well, what if I have a host already? Can I still use him and transfer to IPB?

Also, this is all assuming I already get IPB installed cuz my host has a license to distribute it.

Please answer.

IPB does NOT come with hosting, unless you use IPS's servers, which of course cost more money.

The price varies on the number of posts/members, but I believe that it's usually around $50. I could be wrong.

Also, there is no such thing as a license to distribute Invision Power Board. I would be extrememly wary of anyone who told you otherwise. You should DEFINITELY go to IPS's company forums and ask about that.

Well, he has a license, so he said he could give IPB to other people. I have 100K posts on my forum, it won't cost more than 50 bucks?

IF 2.0 will be JUST AS GOOD as IPB 2.1.4, so just wait till then. :)

And, as I see, you have over 100k posts (:o), so it's better to just wait till IF 2.0 comes out, instead of friggin' wasting money on forum software. (seriously.... who WOULD pay to have a friggin' forum?!?! It's like... If you don't get many members and posts, you're wasting money! :eh:)

Will the look be better on IF 2? Because, right now, IBP >>>> IF in terms of presentation.

I'm not completely sure to which question you refer, as they have all seemed to be addressed. Regardless, we can only provide support for InvisionFree. . . . If you have questions about Invision Power Board and its capabilities, I suggest that you ask at their support boards.

Bah, ok, thank you. Can I get a link to their boards?

Not possible anymore. As of today IPSBeyond is out of beta and you have to be a vaild customer that bought a license (or renew) to get support. They read-only-archived customer hints and tips (all one forum) and customer suppod for all of their products: Board, gallery, blog, nexus, vectura.

Wow, talk about my luck. I guess I'll just wait for IF 2 to come out. >_<

They don't even have a forum for pre-sales questions? Or some method of contacting for inquiries prior to purchasing a license? :ermm:

I don't think so. The forums I can see (and I am a customer) are:

Company News and Updates
News and updates on all the products and services Invision Power Services, Inc. sponsors and develops.

News and Updates Discussion
Discussion on recent news and update announcements. The IPS Staff will create a new topic in this forum when an announcement is posted for all to discuss. Members cannot start topics in this forum.

Sales, Customer Service, and Company Feedback (it is a "rediect" thing to something on the IPS site for questions I think)

Product and Service Development (category)
several forums and sub forums under that. and chat for other things
.

I'm not shunning you. I legitimately can't answer a question about a service with which I have no experience. ;)

Anyway, I found this shiny looking corporate contact form. . . .
