I was wondering, is there a way we could download IF 1.3 from somewhere, so we could still have an IF board, but without the ads ?

I doubt it, the current software is an edited IPB v1.3.1 and after the update we will not be affiliated with IPB in anyway, so to undo all ties with them I doubt they would let you do so.

To remove the Ads you would have to purchase Ad-Removal, no questions asked.

Plus, after InvisionFree upgrades why would you want to use obsolete software? That would be like saying I want to go out an buy a VCR after a brand new DVD played had just came out.

No, InvisionFree will not be like IPB or other forum hosting companies where you have to host it on your own server, Brandon has servers set-up so you don't need to do that.

I'm telling you though that you do not have to host InvisionFree software on your own server, I'm not even sure if you can. So theres no reason to even have it if you plan to use InvisionFree.

Of course, you could just go download IPBv1.3, which is basically the same software, and would be more optimized for a single-board-server approach...

He could, but like I said above, that would be like buying a VCR after a brand new type of DVD player came out which has more/better features.

You can purchase an Invision Power Board 2.0 license from http://invisionpower.com. If you wished to keep your board data, you would have to purchase a conversion from us, which we will provide you in 1.3 format. Then, you would have to use a converter to convert your data to 2.0 format from 1.3 format.

IPB 1.3 is no longer allowed to be distributed (to my knowledge) and so you would have to upgrade to IPB 2.0.

Arcadia, i think you are not understanding what Jelly-bean is trying to say. He/She already has a server and has paid the server. So there is no point in paying for Ad Removal after this.

Jelly-Bean, i suggest you either check out the retail version of InvisionFree Power Board from http://www.invisionboard.com .

If you want to continue using the free version (that is, InvisionFree) you will have to note 3 things:
1.) It cannot be hosted on an external server. All InvisionFree forums are hosted by Brandon only.
2.) The ads can only be taken off using Ad Removal and no other means.
3.) After the upgrade to IFv2, InvisionFree will no longer be affiliated with Invision Power Board.

Edit: Rory beat me to it

I had all of that, except for the IPB part. :stefan:

Umm, you can ask your host owner to install IPB 1.2 on your cPanel or Plesk(On your pre-made script library, or Fantastico), or what ever control panel you have, that could be another way of doing things, also you might consider that the software is IPB's, and it is under license, that you're not allowed to view the files that you see in your ftp.

Just wait until InvisionFree 2.0 comes out, but I am guessing they will not make that script you can upload onto your server, if you don't want ads then pay the price 5 USD++, they do not allow this because they host your board, and make money out of the google ads, as they are a host provider they make money out of the ads, so you uploading the files elsewhere means they cannot make money to support Invisionfree meaning you're supporting another host.
