I love Japanese Animation,i've been into all my life thanks to my uncle.

My favorite anime's would have to be Bleach,The Law Of Ueki,Tenjou Tenge,Utawarerumono,And One Piece (the original japanese version of course and not the crappy dubbed they show on toonami).

I have a major question to ask here.......What on earth is Anime?

Anime is, for lack of a better word, Japanese cartoons, with a much different edge than American cartoons(think Bugs Bunny, ect)

It can be stuff like Pokemon(assuming you've seen it/heard of it/seen the trading card games)

I happen to like FullMetal Alchemist the best, not the dubbed stuff, but the original with subtitles.

I watched Naruto last saturday with a friend of mine who's really into Anime(and she's the one who got me hooked on most of it) and Naruto does not say "Believe It!" every 20 seconds..that is a result of bad dubbing. The show isn't all that bad actually.

Every second word of Narutos is beleive it. I find that quite annoying. Show is very nice beside that.

No, it isn't. Naruto says that annoying "catch phrase" because of bad dubbing(amercianised dubbing) in the original Japanese, Naruto doesn't say "believe it!" all the time. I should know, I watched it with my friend.

Bad dubbing ruins perfectly good anime.

Bad dubbing ruins perfectly good anime.

omfg. no truer words have been said. Look what they did to my precious One Piece. Though what anime HAS been dubbed well? Huge fans of ANY anime will say the dub sucks, even if it was pretty good. trust me, I know since I'm pretty familiar with the YuuYuu Hakusho fandom - who here thinks THAT one was dubbed exceptionally well? I do. Its one of the few anime I'll watch in English and be OK with it.

I've seen the entire series in English uncut, I've seen both movies in both languages, seen a few eps in Japanese [I intend on getting the whole series in Japanese when I get the money] and read most of the manga, so you can call me somewhat of an expert on it, yet, I will tolerate it in English. It must have been dubbed pretty #### well for someone to say this, right?

In any case, there's just no pleasing fans of the Japanese versions of anime. The real anime fans. The ones that will still be watching a good series long after its died out [me for example]. I wish dubbing companies would realize this and at least make their anime more effort. Even if one or a few of the actors suck, if they didn't mess with the scenes in any way, I'll be happy. Not to mention, they should keep names the same [or EXTREMELY similar - alternate spellings included] and omit stupid catchphrases. As far as I'm aware, there are a few anime that didn't do this. Inuyasha, if I remember right, didn't do ANY of this!

So why can't One Piece and Naruto, two of the biggest anime in Japan, be dubbed just as well? It's not like it costs extra money. It just costs extra effor.

Actually with One Piece it would be LESS effort, since they edit it so #### much.

Dubbing ruined a lot of good anime. Naruto sounds like your normal delinquent in the English version. Iceman's voice in the dub for Rockman.exe anime was actually compared to that of a 40 year-old taxi driver at one stage. And there was so much cut out of series like Yugioh, Dragonball and there's always this thing about young boys getting turned into some troublesome little punk these days. Yeah you get the idea.
Anyway anime's ok. People at school ruined series like One Piece for me though after everybody hopped on the bandwagon of being in love with anime and the style just to be 'cool'. Currently watching the 'Code Geass' and 'Death Note' series.

Anime is only dubbed out of Japan because other countries/states, cannot handle the original material. In FMA(full metal alchemist) Ed and Roy are together, Ed swears like a sailor on shore leave, isn't relgious, ect, ect. So, of course, the sensors, dubbers, just *couldn't* have that so it was redone and dubbed.

I wasn't a huge fan of Naurto because of that damned annoying catch phrase, but after watching the original version with my friend who got me into anime, she told me he doesn't say "believe it!" every few seconds, and what I watched, I thought was pretty good(even if I asked her too many questions..lol)

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing was another poorly dubbed anime, and ripped to shreads when it was aired on Cartoon Network(or Adult Swim, same channel)

I was never into anime before my friend got me interested, and that was way back in the late 90's.

Of the few anime I do like, I hate the dubs except for Cowboy Bebop. I love Serial Experiments Lain, Ghost in the Shell, Paranoia Agent, and generally any anime that confuses the hell out of the viewer in a good way(e.g. makes the viewer think to understand the story as it goes on). EDIT: Witch Hunter Robin, Read or Die, and Death note are also pretty good.
