I have highly anticipated the buy for the new Microsoft Vista software but now I am going to have to bend a little to get in..

I recently found out that you need 512 MB of system memory and I have 512 MB of system memory. (Installing vista would give me 0 MB of space, maybe even less) That means, I need to purchase an additional system memory drive.

Can any of you refer me to any good memory drives?

Although you probably should, you don't have to buy anymore memory, the minimum is 512 which you say you have so you should be good, memory is not like harddrive space in reguards to how it is used up.

Your right in one aspect. But to say he's going to be safe is not right.

Vista is going to require much more system resources. 512MB will not longer cut it with Vista like it does with XP. The new standard for computer will become 2GB of RAM. With Vista it nearly halves resources when it comes to RAM. The standard now is 1GB and the new standard is, like I said, 2GB.

It will also require a bit higher graphics card (unless you turn off the new features, which I think may or may not be possible). DX 10 cards are going to be the new standard as is Dual-Core processors. All of these will become utilized as the new software takes them all into account.

My advice is don't get Vista right away. It won't become standard right away. There will be bugs and problems just like every Windows. But now because of the jump in computer requirements it will take a bit longer to get a handle on.

I wouldn't get it if I were you. Anyone that buys it within a year of it's release is a fool; the hardware upgrades are going to be too expensive (those kinds of specs are still premium priced), and the operating system itself is going to be swiss cheeze for the first year or so, as people find the bugs and ways to exploit them.

Windows Vista is going to yet be a good software but with some bugs as mentioned. The only problem is, I don’t have all of the specifics needed to run Vista properly. You need a advanced graphics card, in that case, I don’t have that. You also need good memory (partially speaking my computer is not the best :P). There are lots of things you need for windows Vista so I may wait until a couple of price drops a tad then go in for the big buy.
