Nintendo's Wii game console isn't just flying off store shelves -- it's flying out of players' hands.

The game company's president announced Thursday that the company was investigating reports that players were losing control of the game's remote, causing it to crash into nearby television screens, ceiling fans, even windows and dishes.

The system's weak point is, ironically, its unique selling point: a motion-sensitive controller that's waved like a wand as players participate in video swordfights, bowling, golf or tennis.

But apparently, some gamers aren't wearing the controller's strap around their wrists or are wearing it too loosely, or the strap is prone to tearing without notice. Multiple reports have surfaced of out-of-control Wii accidents; the Web site Wii Have a Problem is keeping a running tally.

lol wooo odd i would say. But I can see why a remote could go flying cause your constantly swining it everywhere lol. whats everyones view on this? and does it effect your chance in buying a Wii?

I chalk it up to people not practicing proper safety, like:

A:Wearing your wrist strap
B:HOLDING onto the remote
C:Making sure your area is clear of stuff
D:Taking the wiimotes AWAY from people not listening to A & B

Really? The PS3 had a bigger line up then Wii and the 360 put together.

Also why did the call it wii, I though it was revouloution.

" Ok guys, Let use the Wii Mote! "

Wii, is a dumb name IMO. Besides the classic games like Zelda, Nintendo has got NOTHING!

PS3 is insane with all teh fuetures, and games coming out, it will soon make up what it lacks which is classic games.

Wii is a very stupid name. Sounds like wee-wee
Not every family is gonna shell out $600 for a machine. Not only that what the heck was Sony thinking in releasing two versions? Confusing even more the consumer?

The winner of this battle will be Nintendo hands down.

Unless PS3 drops to $250 and release tons of games, other than that, they will be in last place.

Better because it has the most power of the other two?

Other than that, that don't mean squat. B-)

Well Xbox360 blows major chunks. Its a disgrace to microsoft.

Ps3 and wii are close, I mean the wii is good, but i think ps3 is better.

I thought this thread was about the wii mote and not about a competition between consoles. I am pretty sure people that are having those problems with controllers are not using precautions. They are just moving their control around without using the controller's strap or something like that

OK I'll be honest, I got all excited while batting in Wii Sports that when I hit a home run I threw my arms up and out flew the controller out of my hands right off my wrist into the TV screen. Luckily it wasn't all that hard.

Hmmmm that reminds me, I hit my bed post behind me when I went to go back to bowl, oh yeah I also hit my drum set when I swung around once.

You think I have a small room? :P

I'm somewhat sure this isn't a thread for a console war but strictly to the Wii.

At any rate, the PS3 is the only console on this point that is receiving disappointing reviews and discussion that it's just not going to work. Only a source as dumb as GamePro would take the side of such a failure console.

On the subject of the Wii: I'm somewhat sure it's negligence of the safety rules. Obviously something so new and innovative is going to require some new attention to safety. The only fault Nintendo is the tearing strap (if it is indeed the fault of Nintendo and not negligence).

Yeah guys, its not a war between ps3 and wii and xbox360.

Anywho...I agree alcario on what was said. people who don't wear their wristband or don't hold onto the remote should have them taken away :phrank:
