Any of you have a Nabaztag? It's the world's first "smart rabbit." It reads the news and messages. Just wondering, is it worth the $150 (and is the new Nabaztag/tag worth the $180?)? Please hurry, Christmas is fast approaching. (a lot of people give me money for Christmas and I'm deciding if I should spend it on the Nabaztag or not)

(Note: this post will be mainly off topic, so I'll put my on topic thoughts here at the top: My first impression is that it's a cool novelty item, but probably not very practical.)

---off topic starts here---

I didn't know what a Nabaztag was so I did a search about it a came across this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nabaztag

Then I read this:
Quote:

...derived from ubiquitous computing and calm technology, like those of Ambient Devices[2], which exploit the possibilities of computing and the internet to provide information without a computer, screen, keyboard, or physical interface.
Contents

Out of the box, Nabaztag can send and receive MP3s and messages that are read out loud as well as perform the following services (by either speaking the information out loud or using indicative lights): weather forecast, stock market report, news headlines, alarm clock, e-mail alerts, and others.

With a subscription fee, Nabaztag gets more customized services, expanded messaging capabilities, and can read any RSS feed off the web.

Then I realized, THIS IS THE VERY DEFINITION OF A PERSOCOM:

MY PREDICTION OF A CHOBITS LIKE FUTURE IS ALMOST TRUE THANKS TO STUFF LIKE THIS AND THIS:

No, after reading the wiki article on it, I can safely say that that isn't worth 180 dollars.

Since I can't buy the Wii (too costly), I'll have to buy the Nabaztag anyway. I only spend my Christmas money on electronics, and besides I want it whether it's worth the money or not.

I still don't understand the whole point of the Nabaztag but it is like the persocom from chobbits. (I just hope the on button isn't where it is on that manga)

Nothing wrong with that. :)

I'm usually like that especially when I don't see anything that I want or need at the moment.

Why not save your money and get something better, later?

Because I have absoutely no patience and I never, ever will. :) And besides, what better for a rabbit expert to own than the world's first smart rabbit! Besides, let's say I would save up to buy the Nintendo Wii. It then becomes obsolete and I bought it for nothing and then have to deal with the same problem with the next system. Basically, since they go obsolete so quick, I've got to limit myself to cheap electronics so I don't have to be caught owning anything that's obsolete! If it becomes obsolete, I can replace it easily.
