i dont know if any of you have ever had this problem but its buggin me, and i know this is a community chat thing, but when i try and install some programs onto my computer, it wont let me and it just says:
"The computer administrator has set policies to prevent this installation"

Well, for 1 i am the computer admin, and 2 i have never set any policies to prevent anything.

it is genuine program discs i am using.

It must be a setting you have put in place, have you got more than one username to log onto the computer?

Well it doesn't just happen it self. You either have told a program to do it for you, or you've altered it yourself. Unless someone else has access to your account and/or has Admin' privileges on the computer.
Just to check that you are the Admin'... go to: Control Panel > User Accounts > look for your user name, under it you will see what account type yours is. If you now find out that you're not an Admin' get another member of the computer to make you Admin' by following the above steps, but this time click on your account and 'Change the account type'. Please note that this other user must be an Admin'.

I realized that you can log onto a administrator account if you have the log on screen changed to the classic way by just typing administrator in the username area, and just hitting enter...but yeah do what dopey said :)

How old is your computer?

If not old you can either A, reinstall windows, if you don't care about the data.

Or B......I think it's best I don't mention this way as of yet :P
