Anyone know any way to restore Vista as if I did not add, install/what-ever programs/folders? Somewhat like a 'fresh' install without loss of files, folders, programs, etc? |

No...if you have programs installed with extra data in the Windows folder and keys in the Registry it's hardly going to be a 'clean' install anyway... What you can do is use vLite and create a new Vista ISO with the programs you want slipstreamed into the install. The problem is, as you can see, it's still in the BETA stages, and it's pretty complicated creating your own packages. Even then, it doesn't work with files/folders. You'll have to back up everything, install Vista, then transfer all your files back manually for a proper clean install. |

Or...if Vista has this feature yet, use the Repair tool much like Windows XP has. Don't know how to go about doing it on Vista but on Windows it was a matter of inserting the CD and going to the point where it searches for Windows on the hard drive and then you choose repair. It keeps all your files but cleans up and repairs all the windows reg keys and folders. |

I'm sure I've seen this topic on IPS official forums. Anyways, a user there has posted a detailed post that should become of use. I will PM you the address now. |
