Ok. Here's the deal. I have a daily 20 minute commute to class due to traffic. I have a '95 Acura Integra that runs wonderfully. The one drawback is that it only has a tape player. And that was fine at first I just bought a 3 dollar adapter tape and plugged in my cd player and that suited me. But there are several drawbacks to this. First the player and I constantly play a game of play the tape where it likes to eject the tape unless i force it in and hold it down. Second, it's a pain to keep lugging cds and the player in and out of the car. Now while I have less than 25 cds, it's still a pain. And lastly my quieter songs don't come through well quality wise. So my friend who has a $350 i pod and this radio adapter has been telling me to get an i-pod and this adapter. We tested his I-pod and actually played the same song causing me trouble once through the fm adapter and once through my tape adapter. The difference was significant. The music played crystal clear through the fm adapter but still gave me problems with the tape. So I've asked for money this Christmas to put towards an mp3 player and a radio adapter. But I really can't keep up with all these mp3 players. I'm leaning towards the $150 2GB I-pod nano and the roadtrip adapter running me to about $230. That of course wouldn't take into account any other accessories I might need to maintain this I-pod or any of those warranties should I choose to buy them. Naturally I'm a little iffy on spending nearly the price of a Nintendo Wii on this thing. So I've been looking at other mp3 players and really I am all confused. I know many of you recieved nanos for Christmas and I'm sure others bought different brands. What I want to know is what you like, what you don't like and would you recommend this I-pod to suit my needs. If you use a radio adapter as well please share your evaluations of that as well. Don't post here saying OMG GET A NANO ITS GREAT! or I'll simply remove the post. I want real, thought out reasons to help me in selecting an mp3 player to purchase |

I like ipods. They seem better than regular Mp3 players. I suggest the ipod nano or Ipod shuffle, the ipod shuffle however does not have a screen so your put to an ipod nano. Or... There are some Extremely good Mp3's out there that you can buy. Some run into the 3Gb range for only $50. |

Depending one what you're looking to do, really. I mean, if you think 2GB is enough, and that paying over twice what you'd pay for anything else of that kind is a good idea, I'd highly recommend the Nano. However, if all you want is something simple and cheap, I'd recommend this: http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item(1211)...Player_2GB.aspx The lovely things about it being is pricetag (100 dollars) and the fact that you don't have to use iTunes or anything apple (which in my mind is a plus). I've used SanDisk products for years now, ever since my first 64MB MP3 player, never had a problem with them. Excellent quality. You can use the tape, or pick up a 10 dollar radio adapter at Radio Shack, works both ways really. I have the former, because the tape player in the car I use works fine. |

Thanks for the information. To clarify: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BP8AY...3915996-5884741 is the same as your link? Seth's also recommended http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B000CS7U1C/re...3915996-5884741 based on the reviews. If anyone has had a similiar product, I'd also be interested in views on this brand as well. Creative Zen and Sansa seem to be the best deals pricewise, but I want to know how well they hold up in use. |

Yes, the same one I posted, I got it in best buy. Actually, it was on sale a few weeks ago. And to Stephen: Yes, its the same one, just different colour. They make them up to 4 GB which is a nice amount, depending on how much music you have. |

Seriously, get the Creative Zen. I have it, and I've never looked at anything else since. It's quick (meaning it doesn't lag behind like most iPods), it has a lovely high resolution screen, it plays with my PC with joy as I've not had one problem since I've had it (over 2months) and it's a pleasure to use. Also, the battery life lasts for a quite long time too, Louis (my mate) has an iPod and his battery (full of which) ran out before mine, and I started with a lower power level than him. How good can it get? And to top it off; you don't have to stick with formats and you don't have the worry of it not working after a year or less. Also; you're being unique, and not following the crowd by simply getting an iPod. However, if you do get an iPod... stick with the Nano. The rest are prone to failing in under a year, or if you're lucky; just over. Any other MP3s I don't know, as they vary in where you live. I don't know whether you live in the U.K or somewhere else. I personally live in the U.K and seen as you're using dollars I'm guessing you're from America. So, I can't advise on any smaller MP3s because I don't know if they're available to you or not |

Personally, I am a HUGE Ipod fan. They are simple to use, and can hold tons of songs, and are sleek and nice to feel in your hands. Although the price can cause an issue... |

All options that he wouldn't be using while driving, which by reading his post I assume is the primary use for it. If you wanted it for something beyond playing a few GBs of music, I'd recommend something entirely different from what I did. If you wanted more gigs, or a screen, or more options, I'd pick something else. However, if you want what you outlined in your post, something cheap, easy, simple, and reliable, then pretty much everything in the Creative Zen (which don't get me wrong, is great) is totally pointless. Its like the people with 2 gigs of music buying an 80 gig iPod. Its pointless and a waste of money if you're not going to use it all. |
