cvn-tv-dip, I understand what your saying. Instead of using analogies, let's use other examples. You are in a shop and you see a boy stealing some sweets from the sweet counter. Do you: A. Report the boy to the shop keeper or the police, so that they can deal with the boy B. Tell the boy what he is doing is wrong and that if he isn't sorry for what he has done, that he will go to hell I choose A. Simply because it's not really any of my business and if I had to tell the boy he was going to hell, I would be no better than him. |

But who do I report it to? And would stealing candy be a good analogy for this kind of a scale? I would actually tell the boy that what he is doing is wrong. If I need to speak out for what is right, I should. Of course, I shouldn't be reckless because obviously that would only bring in more trouble. I'm not talking about "If you sin, you go to hell," but "You've already sinned, and if you believe, you will be saved from hell." So using the candy incident to tell him about that might actually happen, but that probably wouldn't be the cause of my telling him these things. |

I'm Jewish. Reform Jewish (Not too religious. Practice the religion, but don't get into the crazy stuff) with a touch of Conservative. Just because I like to get involved in conservative jewish activities. I stand strong with my religion, no matter what. |

Does the Christian God not see all sin as equal in his eyes? |

Yes, but stealing candy would not often be the cause that motivates me to tell the boy that. If I was having coffee with him for some reason and he didn't steal anything, I would still be able to tell him that. |

Almost all kids steal candy. If I saw it once, I'd let it go, but if I noted that the child was a habitual thief, depending on how well I knew the child, and his age I would talk to him(it would mostly be, look, I have seen you steal things before, you know better. If you see me just don't do it, because next time I see you I'm going to report you). I hate stealing, but I hate the fact that if I narc-ed on the kid, and he had priors, (but was basically a good kid) I could be responcible for the state coming in and removing him from his home(things like that have happened). Sin is suppose to be the same in the eyes of God, but I believe "judge not". Who knows when the day might come when I might have to steal something from the store? I haven't stolen anything in years(I was a typical teen and even though I have never been arrested, I did do my share) I would also, if I knew the kid well enough, invite him to where I go to eat lunch alot, so maybe he wouldn't feel as much of a need to steal
