Mmm, a reasonably overpriced phone with an 8Gb ipod built in, a funny screen size (mix between 4:3 and 16:9) and restricted to Apple-only pieces of software. Tag on to that, in the US, it's limited to one carrier and you have a decidedly uninspiring product.

Nothing it is giving is particularly revolutionary - ok, so it has the multi-touch sensor as opposed to just a single touch sensor, but other products offering this aren't too far behind - which for something that has been touted as reinventing the phone, and for something that stupidly expensive, you'd expect it to be a bit better than it is.

Apple's general marketing plan of pretty much that has been working well enough, people keep on buying their stuff.

I will agree that they have a fantastic marketing team (possibly one of the best, but then again i'm only seeing things from a consumer perspective - there could be other companies better at marketing, but who cater for a corporate market).

I wish people would look objectively at the products they are buying, rather than the gloss that companies put on their products to try and justify spending far more money on something than it's worth. I'll admit that Apple products have a fantastic design, but that doesn't merit charging so much for a product which, for that price, could offer much more.

In my veiw, apple has so much potential, but they overcharge for their products. They can place so much more on their products and still offer the same price, then again, money is the world for most people.

if this iPhone is as reliable as the iPod I'm soooo going to stay away from it.

The only problem I've ever had with an iPod in all my time using these products was with the iPod mini, and it was a defective unit.

Other than that, it is one of the best products I have ever used. I can't even think of any ways that the iPod could be deemed unreliable, besides price. (unless you're a type of person that drops everything, then you may have some problems...)

I find it funny that a freakin phone is the same cost of a PS3.
It's cool nonetheless.

There's word of the price dropping before launch. But, if not at launch, Apple did say the price would drop at later revisions. I'm personally statisfied with a simple cellphone, but if I'm looking to buy a smartphone in a few years, this would likely be my pick.
