The only reason you could ever think JS sucks is either 1.) You've mastered it, which on one has because there are costantly new things popping up each day, or 2.) You don't know enough of JS for it to keep you occupied. Come back and say it sucks when you've made one of these 3: 1.) A 10 level Zelda, or other, game. Scrap that...you are better off making a sort of JS database in which the user entered data gets stored persistently without using a server side language or cookies ![]() 3.) A new JS framework library ![]() Also, give some AJAX a try when making those...its by far one of the most powerful tools JS can use xD |

Not true There are places on the net that use only JS to store their user data xD Of course they must have some server side back ups, but thats it.

... hmm. no need for if scripters? marquees and what else? hmm... 1) you really need to watch what you say us "advanced" or good scripters leave because of how much ___ we deal with from you unthankable members. thats why zt and a lot others left.. anyways .... no need for them? i guess i should save myself the bandwidth, time and effort and not release invisionfree live (messenger) and redcrazykid and other should stop? right? no need for us! -> just because there are mass amounts of no use scripts dont judge; just because you dont know where or what good scripts are. 2) if thats what you think js is and does then you dont know js... |

I'm sorry if I caused you offense. I guess what I meant was... Oh wait a second, I meant exactly what I said. We don't need more InvisionFree coders. Haha, I was right! And I don't appreciate being lumped into "you unthankable members," because I am thankful for good codes. Although I'm sure you don't care. And read the post after the one you quoted, tool. I specifically referred to RedCrazyKid. And you post did not contain a single capital letter. LOLQLIPT!!!11 |

Yes, surprisingly, opinions on a topic vary. ![]() I'm going to go ahead and agree with those who recommend you choose the one that best suits your project. After all, the best way to learn something is to start using it productively. I have a personal preference for PHP, however, JavaScript has its uses, and knowing both would be the best plan. Which to learn first is truly up to you and what you plan to do. And don't feel like you have to master one before you can start using the other; once you feel like you've gotten a handle on one, start combining it with some of the other. For example, if you go with PHP first and you feel comfortable with the code you've created, maybe throw in some JavaScript to make the user interface cooler. You never know.

Start with PHP if you wish to do HTMLish stuff. Start with JS if you wish to make stuff with more flavor. {Since HTML(+CSS since we are keeping up the 2.0) with JS = Very professional and sharper designs.} PHP is great and databases are extremely wonderful and can lead to very organization and interaction (at a slow pace). JS is great because you can ALWAYS do something new, and as web languages [server based] change, you can rest assure they well always use JS. JS is a fundamental evolution of web development. + Starter out JS makes for great intro to programming languages period. |
