Would anyone be interested in a fully custom Theatre System?
As I'm currently making my v2.0 of my successful Theatre System... the thing is, I need some inspiration and wondered if it's actually worth me doing it.

So yea...
1) - Would anyone be interested in a custom theatre? (I don't necessarily mean now and that I'll be giving you one now, I just mean in general.)
2) - Does anyone have any ideas about what could be included?
3) - Could some give ideas on layouts and what kind of interface they'd like?

Oh, and though my last one were successful that were like last year and it's been well over 5 months since then.

I haven't seen the first one. Link me to it.

Sorry, it's unavailable. As:
A) I'm shamed of it and deleted all coding of it.
B) I've requested administrators to remove it due to it being dated and I didn't have the time to update it.

The most popular boards that it's been on has been: GSF & EV Fan. All the members at those boards have loved it. The administrators didn't like the fact that it were kind of complexed to update the videos so I am working on that now. I've also made the installation process a little more simpler too.

I made the first Theatre system when I were learning HTML, but now I know HTML & CSS I'm hoping I can make a even better one.

The idea of this topic is for me to get feedback on whether people would like a Theatre System and what kind of interface they'd like.

You can do some basic things in HTML & CSS, but the real power is in PHP and JavaScript.

If you want to create a theater system that is easy to update and manage, you should definitely learn PHP & JavaScript.

I imagine your last theatre was in HTML and CSS, and simply pasting HTML code to display videos, right?

I know, PHP is good :) ...but I'm still only considering learning that. And I've already got quite far with HTML I've already got an video uploading feature and I still need ideas for other features.

Erm; the first one were basically using forum rules and tables with drop down menus and the video HTML code. But again I need ideas to allow me to move away from that amateur style.
But this current one is a little more advanced than that... for a starters I'm not using no forums/rules and I've got a few other features. I've got quite far with HTML and it's fairly advanced.

With me working with IPB I'm slowly getting used to PHP and I managed to edit our affiliate modification in PHP yesterday.

I learnt HTML & CSS through trial and error along with viewing other peoples codes and I intend to learn PHP that way too. Several of my mates have so I know it's possible.

Instead of placing them in the forum rules *waves to Dopey!* you could create a new page with Javascript and place everything in there and make an interface for each section with little clickables and such/whatever would look good. If you need help doing that I could make that part for you or if YOU want to make it I can show you how. :D Also you can have hide/show options for different categories or dropdown ones. ;)

I loved the first one from GSF Dopey. :D This one should be even better.

Like I said I've stopped using forum rules and now I'm using extensions like Thunder Arcade :)
I've had little success in thinking of a layout and an impressive interface. At the moment it's just a navigation menu to the left and a box in the middle. So yea, ideas on a layout and interface would be really cool.

:frantics: Thank you ... like I said, that's what I did when I were new to HTML and didn't know anything about CSS. Now I know allot more and got a unlimited host and spare time :)

Cool, sounds good man. :P A decent theater layout.....hmm.....well yeah you can basically start out with what you said you have then once you get more of the work finished, just add in some extra features or whatever to make it look better.

:) How would you personally like to select a video and genre? This is one thing I'm unsure about.

Hmm, well for selecting a certain type of "genre" you could simply have it as this:

Music Videos--------Music---------Videos

Or whatever you want, which that would be the genre. Then a user would click on one of those and it would show (instantly, with Javascript help) which types are under those genre. Then a user would select that and would bring them to that section. Somewhere along the lines of that would be fair.

So you're saying, if someone were to hover over a genre a little thing would appear saying what's in that category? ...sorry, I'm confused on what you mean >_<

Well you can have it show when you hover or just simply when someone clicks it it shows as well.

No I couldn't, don't know how to do that
So it would have to be the other method.

Also, does anyone have any other theories?

Erm; thanks. I'll see what others think and then see what happens. Though I do have another idea for that feature. (*thinks for a bit*)
