The release of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows is coming out on July 21.

But how does that affect those who want to ban it because it teaches kids bad things?

Bloomsbury, her British publisher, said it would publish a children's hardback edition, an adult hardback, a special gift edition and an audio book on the same day.

I'm excited for the release even though I really haven't been keeping up to date on my Harry Potter reading (stopped after the 5th book). I hope this new one is as good as the others. Why does Harry Potter teach kids bad things? Heck Harry Potter was the book that got me reading in the first place, if it wasn't for J.K. Rowling I doubt I'd have read half the books I've read to date.

Harry Potter is awesome; it's just that some people thought it taught kids bad stuff since one kid came up to a guy and hitting him with a wand...

 That's pretty funny! Did the kid say anything when he hit him? Like trying to cast a spell or something.

I totally get your point of why people want to ban Harry Potter, but I'm not with those people. For one, anything these days can teach kids bad things. But I think Harry Potter opens a lot of kids' minds and gets their creative juices flowing. Making them think, and imagine about stuff. At least that's what the books did for me. And honestly, that's the good stuff, we need more stuff like that in this world.

I'm not a major fan of it but i believe that some christian groups are against it because they think it promotes witchcraft. They can protest all they like but the whole Harry Potter thing is too big now to ban.

But forget all that. Take a look at [edit. you know what. I bet the link will be removed so i'll take it off myself. However if you google Daniel Radcliffe and the play called "Equus" in London soon, you'll find what i'm talking about. OMG what a body :w00t: ]

I think Harry Potter might be cool, but it is so long and it could hurt someone because it promotes at least one of the following:

  • Witchcraft
  • Religious beliefs

I don't really care much though, as I'm not a fan. :)

The rumors that it promotes witchcraft and Religious beliefs are nothing but rumors. They are just rumors that started back when it first came out by worried Christian parents (I'm Christian, and love the books)

Also as for long, anything worth it takes time & work, just ask Brandon about that he knows first hand about that :P

But ya I can't wait for July 21st it is going to be awesome

A kid's version for this book? I don't see how it could become any more kid friendly, besides a exchanging a few words...

Good books, can't wait for this last one to come out.

I would only ban it because I think Harry Potleaf is a load of crap. Not because it "teaches kids bad things." Censorship and protecting the children innocence or whatever is completely stupid. It don't teach kids witchcraft or anything. Dude friggin edited Yu-Gi-Oh episodes show worse stuff [Ouija board, for one]. I wouldn't want my kids goin' skitzo on me just cuz of a card based on stuff that can kill you, but I don't really care because I ain't havin' kids and even if I did, messin with Ouija board isn't my business.

Like I said I would only ban it because I hate it. When you go to school and get called the name of a character that you hate for no real reason [lightning bolts running down my eyes. holy rusted metal, Batman!? that was a reference to a rockman.exe character! since when did pothead steal my lightning bolts? it's been my symbol before the character was even created.]

And honestly, I have made this rant before. And I will continue to say so because I feel like it. I'm worse than that wanna be wissard. I promote anarchy and cannibalism, d00dz.

Really, these religion dudes only say that about anything that's popular. They said DnD was "satan's game" and "draws children into the occult" when DnD is for one a highschool level game at the least. In which the people playing it should be aware of what they're doing. Idiotic people, they should learn to mind they're own business.
