InvisionFree Guild Wars - Rules and Guidelines[/u] (...still under construction...) InvisionFree Guild Wars is a large community game that can involve upwards of 30 + people. The game requires you to use a combination of strategy and risk to ensure that you are the last guild standing. Unlike other games, InvisionFree Guild Wars is highly reliant on images and graphics. The game is played on a global 'game map', or 'game board' where users plan their moves and are shown where they are in accordance to everyone else. If you enjoy forum games that are fast paced and always updated, keep reading... The game first begins with a period of sign ups. During this time you will need to create a guild name, guild icon (12x12) and have five people who share an interest in your guild join. After a minimum of 5 guilds sign up, we move directly into the game. All of a guilds players are placed onto a map. A player is indicated on the map by your guilds initials and a number. This number corresponds to the same number on the player list that is located under the game map during each round. This will tell you which player you are. Once you know who you are on the game map, it would be a good idea to review what each image on the map means. Hearts on the map will allow you revive one guild member (if you happen to lose one that is). Heats are not easy to access. It may be worth skipping them unless it's crucial you pick one up. Monsters are displayed as blue spiders. If you come into contact with a monster, you'll perish unless you have a sword in your inventory. Monsters move every two turns, so don't get too close unless you can risk it! Trees are tricky. This is because there are many of them. You can remove trees by starting large fires. You can purchase fire at any time for Guild Points (GP). There is a large body of water on the map which you cannot hope to cross. You cannot enter an acre of land that has even the slightest bit of water without first building a bridge. Bridges cost your guild GP. Once a bridge is built, any member from any guild can cross it. Fire can also burn bridges. Could you somehow use this to your advantage? (Hahaha!) That's it for images! View the answers to some popular questions below - if you have any new questions to add, feel free to ask! Questions & Answers[/u] Question: How many guild points do we start out with? Answer: Each guild starts out with 500 guild points. Question: Can we make our own guild castle images? I don't want to use the default one. Answer: As long as your castle has the same height and width attributes of the default castles (or close to), you're free to create your own! Feel free to be as creative as possible. Question: How do you determine which guild moves first? How do turns work? Answer: Turns take place in rounds during guild wars. The duration of a round goes from the last time the game map was updated, to 7 PM EST time the next day. There are two turn styles which a guild can move in. The first style is called Leader-Focused. In this style, your guild's first player (xx1) posts a compiled list of all your moves. They are in charge of making sure all your moves get in before the deadline. If your guilds leader is not comfortable with this responsability than you can use the second style of movement. This style is called Member-Focused. In this style, each indivdual member in your guild is in charge of posting their own moves. Any members who don't post before the deadline will not be moved. Collectively, your guild must decide which style is more appropriate. You may switch between styles whenever you like, but you must discuss it with the rest of your team members. Question: Is it possible to recruit more guild members as the game progresses? Answer: No, I've decided that the game will take too long if this happens. The guild members you have, are the ones you are stuck with. Question: Are there ways to protect our guild castle from attack? Answer: Of course! To protect your guild castle, you must eliminate the opposing target who is trying to destory it. To do this you'll have to get within one space and have enough swords and guild members to defeat the other guild. Additional defense items may be available as the game progresses. Question: Is there a maximum number of spaces that our guild members can move per turn? Answer: Yes. Each member of your guild can only move a total of 3 spaces. Each guild member may move one space for free on each turn. After the first space, each additional space up to the third will cost you 10 GP. In total, it will cost you 20 GP to move three spaces. Special circumstances may arise in the game where your characters will be allowed to move past this limit. If you're unsure, just assume you can only move three. Also, as a special bonus: If you have more than one player on a space, you can move the 'group' for the price of one. Question: You said we can store items? How does this work? Answer: If there is an item on the map (such as a recovery heart), you may pick it up and save it for later. All of the items you've found or purchased are stored in your guild castle until you require them. With that said, if someone captures your guild castle, they will also receieve any items your keeping in there! Question: I see monsters on the game map! Can we kill them? Answer: Yes! I encourage you to do so! To kill a monster, your player needs to be equiped with a sword. You must also be within one square of the monster to initiate an attack. If you do not have a sword and the monter comes within one space of you, you will be eliminated from the game. Question: Can we have more than one player on a space? Answer: Yes! You can have a total of five guild members on one space at once if you wish. You cannot move onto a space occupied by another guild member unless you have a public alliance with them. Question: What's a public alliance? Answer: A public alliance is when you and another guild have chosen to work together. In this case, both leaders of the guild would send a personal message to me declaring this alliance. After you do this, you may share items, and even spaces on the game map. Sometimes an alliance is the best way to go. If you wish to end an alliance, only one guild has to send me a personal message stating your withdrawal. I will contact the other guild and your alliance will end on the next turn. Question: I want to keep my moves a secret from everyone else...can I send them to you in a PM? Answer: No. All moves need to be posted in the game thread. If you do not post them in the game thread, they will not be looked at. Don't make this mistake! It's a shame to miss out on a full round of guild wars fun! Question: Can we move our players diagonally? Answer: Yes. You may move your players in any direction. Question: How to battles between guild members work? Answer: There are two battle scenarios. The first scenario occurs when you have more guild members with swords on one space than the guild you're about to battle. In this scenario, your guild automatically wins the battle. The other scenario occurs when you have the same amount of players with swords facing each other. In this scenario, a random activity is put into play. It could be a matching game, a time-based action that is required etc. Whichever guild completes the activity first will come out victorious! Question: da_man2006! You totally messed up the moves that I posted! Can you please fix them? Answer: If you're very polite about it, I will move the earth to make sure I've corrected the mistakes I've made. Like most humans, I'm prone to make errors here and there. If I do happen to make one, PM me or post the mistake in the game thread and I will fix it promptly! Question: If we kill monsters do we gain guild points? Answer: Yes! Each little spider monster you kill will give you 5 guild points. It's not much, but it's better than nothing! Question: For some reason the map looks the same after every round. Why? Answer: Are you refreshing your page? I upload the images to the same file name each round to save time, so your browser is still using the information it collected last time to upload the page faster. Just remember to hit F5 after every round or manually refresh your page and that will fix the problem! Question: Can we give a player more than one sword? Answer: No. You can buy extra swords and keep them in your guild castle, however. Question: Fire takes a turn to burn right? Answer: Yes. If you wish to burn down a forest that happens to be in your way, it will take one turn to burn. Question: There's water in my way. Do I really have to go ALL the way around? Answer: Nope! You can build a bridge if you have the guild points for it! Bridges can be as large as you need them to be. Question: Can we sell our items to other guilds if they're willing to buy it? Answer: Yes. If you have an item and you're willing to sell it, feel free. The buying party needs to post a message saying that they want the item ("I accept your offer for 590GP" for example) and the selling party needs to post that it's okay to sell that item. Question: Do I have to be active to remain in this game? Answer: That's up to you. Just remember this: This game involves a lot of people and moves at a fairly fast pace. If you don't post or check the game thread you could end up missing out on special updates such as new items, increased player movement etc. It's always a good idea to check out the first post or last updated game map post for information before continuing the game. Question: How long does this game last? How do I win? Answer: There is no set limit for the game. It could last for 20 rounds, or it could last for more than 50 rounds. The last standing guild is the winner! It's a free-for-all death match. Question: Can we share guild castles with others? Answer: Sharing castles is not an option. It would be far too difficult to try and work out the finer details such as who could protect the castles and how many guilds could share one and what items would belong to who. I think I'd have a nervous breakdown. Question: Can we send you questions via PM? Answer: Yes, you can ask me any questions you'd like through the personal message system. Just remember you cannot send moves through PM. Question: What kind of special updates or events happen during the game? Answer: Those are kept secret until they happen. Sometimes during the game, surprise things may happen. Not much more to say on this since they're surprises afterall. Question: Will you please post all questions asked during the game right here so I can be sure that my question isn't answered before I ask? Answer: Yes. Question: My move was interupted by an item. Why? Answer: When a member uses an item, it takes effect before any move. That's just the way it works! Question: How do protective orbs work? How do I get them? Answer: Protective orbs are the rarest items. They allow you to fortify your castle with either a moat or forest. They can even give you a recovery heart if you're lucky! If you happen to come across this item, you'll need to activate it by posting which colour you'd like. Green, Blue or Purple. The choice is yours! The blue orbs build moats. The green orb builds forests and the purple orb will randomly give you a green orb, blue orb, or a recovery heart. To use a blue or green orb, you need to have at least one space clear of players around your castle. Question: Can we freeze Dan? Answer: No, you cannot use the Stop Watch to freeze Dan T from moving. Question: How does the Stop Watch work? Answer: The stopwatch works just like any other useable item (fire, bridges). You have to purchase the item before you use it. Once you have the item, you can use it's effect right away. Everyone who wanted to freeze a user (users) this round have been given stop watches for the cost of 25 GP ea. You may use them on your next turn. Question: If we kill the member of a guild, do we get all of their items (including their swords)? Answer: No! You only get the guild points and items stored in their guild castle. Fire, bridges, recovery hearts, stop watches and the Dan Bomb are all stored in a guild's castle. If you purchase a Blitz Sword 9000 while carrying a regular sword, it replaces that item. Swords are a GP consumer to make the game more challenging. Question: What happens if a guild stands in a position where they can be be attacked by two guilds on either side? Answer: The attack power of both guilds are combined and used on the unfortunate team in the center. Whichever guild(s) has the strongest attack power will win. |

So how much GP do we have, and can we move now? If yes, we want to move up 2 and capture that guild (extreme coders?) |

It's Q & A time with da_man! Question: Umm, what time zone? Answer: The game will begin on Tuesday, February 20 at 5:00 PM EST. That's GMT -5 folks! Question: Will guilds be able to attack other guilds? Answer: I didn't include this in the original plan, but I think a way for guilds to battle on the game map would be a wise idea. You will most definetely be seeing a way for this to happen. Question: Can we take a heart before we need it? (store it for later) Answer: I believe what I'm going to do is allow users to store items in their guild castles. This would serve two purposes: 1) You can buy an item while you have the GP, just in case you don't have the points later and 2) If a guild captures a castle, it would be nice if it came with the items being stored within it. Sounds like a neat idea if I can bring it to life. Question: Is it too late to join? Answer: Unforuntately, yes. Guild registrations have been closed. The guilds we have now (I believe there are six in total) are the guilds that will be playing in this game. Perhaps you should consider signing up in the future. I'd like to do more rounds once the game feels comfortable and I know exactly what I'm doing. I'd also like to teach someone how to do things and have them as a co-runner. No, don't ask to become a co-runner. I'll just ingore you. ^^ Question: So is the Staff killsers Guild able to join this game? Answer: Yes. I feel absolutely horrible about rushing into the game without thinking everything through. I got too excited I guess you could say. I will be moving some guild castles around to better position everything and I will be adding the Staff Killers guild in so they can play. Question: Can i join the staff killers? Answer: No. Sorry. Guild registrations and sign ups are closed. |

You will now be able to move yourselves indivdually, giving each person more things to do.

I've thought of that too! Weapons will now be available for GP. I'm still kicking myself for starting the game without all of this stuff before. You will also be able to defend your castles! You'll be able to do this if the users with swords defending your castle is greater than the number of users attacking your castle. In the event that those numbers are equal, a random drawn event will happen. Random selections using the Contest Runner program I have will make things the fairest. |
