I don't understand why, simply because a new board is in the works, that every other invisionfee board is simply left behind. I have been a patron of invisionfree for over four years, and have loved their boards for so long. It doesn't seem right that these boards should just be forgotten. I don't understand why someone can't take ten minutes to fix the Username Changing problem, or other things. I don't care if the admins delete this topic, or lock it, or ban me from this site. it just further proves my point that they are too busy to care about the boards that need their attention right now. Zetaboards is something to be done in the future, while the Invisionfree boards are here now. Maintain what you have now, and then move onto other issues. I'm just saying, it seems that there is an extreme lack of support from the admins concerning these problems. If I came off rude, or disrespectful I'm terribly sorry. Invisionfree holds a deep place in my life, and I just want to make sure that it isn't forgotten. Thanks for reading. |

Moved to IF Discussion It's not that we have "left behind" InvisionFree. However, there is a strong impetus to get ZetaBoards finished because it is a marked improvement over InvisionFree in terms of performance and experience. Brandon could spend all his time fixing the various bugs in IPB 1.3 ... but even then, it would still be a rather outdated and inefficient software. Not to mention the simple, but often overlooked, fact that we run thousands of boards on a server. Any software has to be conscientious of this fact. Brandon decided that, instead of attempting to rebuild IPB 1.3 (basically from the ground up), limited by its structure and design, he would build his own software from scratch, using his experience up until now to create a software that performs under the conditions experienced in a multi-board environment. Grace under fire.
Firstly, the "username changing problem" is not a problem, and labelling it as such does not make it a problem. I certainly understand how a board owner might see it as a bug, since we didn't go announcing it. However, it is actually a correction to solve another problem. Like the removal of the Top 10 Posters, or the search feature, it is another way to improve server performance and compensate for IPB's structure. We do care about maintaining the service. Many board owners started complaining of slow boards, so Brandon investigated, found the problem, and solved it. Secondly, the hyperbole of "ten minutes" doesn't lend itself to your post. Most of the problems bugs would take a lot longer than ten minutes to fix. Take search, as an obvious example. Simply "fixing" the search engine won't cut it. It needs to be totally redone from the ground up. That's a tall order. And, by fixing one bug, many more would probably crop up. Then, at the root of the problem, we again run into the simple fact that IPB 1.3 is old, and cranky, and doesn't work very well. If we didn't care about InvisionFree, we would slap a "done" sign on the ZetaBoards beta, force everyone to upgrade, and go fishing. Instead, we are thoroughly testing ZetaBoards, constantly making improvements, to make sure it is ready and stable enough to last for a long time. Oh, and then, after doing that, we are going to give people the choice to upgrade or not, and continue to offer support for InvisionFree in its current form. I certainly understand how things seem "out of sorts". InvisionFree is changing. Change isn't necessarily the most comfortable process. And by comparing ZetaBoards to InvisionFree, the flaws in IPB 1.3 become more evident, since ZB is indeed an improvement. And yes, in case you wondered, IF Discussion, as the name implies, is about "IF Discussion". General Support, on the other hand, is for asking support questions. |

Read this[/URL] topic if you haven't already. They disabled it because it was slowing down/causing problems with the servers, and we had loads of people coming here and complaining how bad their boards were lagging. It's not that they are being lazy and don't want to fix it. They are simply trying to find a way to speed up boards until they can devote more time into fixing the bugs of the software. I feel it is much more important to fix bugs in ZetaBoards, our new software that is (in my opinion) much better than IPB 1.3. It's not that they're ignoring you or anyone else, it's just that there are only so many hours in the day. They're trying to devote them to what they feel is most important, and I must say again, I feel it's more important to fix the bugs of ZetaBoards and get it released as soon as we can. As far as your comments about the administrators lacking dedication, all I can say is that if you have been around even the slightest bit, you'll see how wrong that is. I've seen Brandon and Seth up at all hours of the night fixing things left and right in both InvisionFree and ZetaBoards, even though they're both college students trying to get an education. If you've ever been around for a server crash, you'll see just how dedicated they are to getting it fixed as soon as possible, and how fast they deal with the topics that flood the forum. Ben does more support tickets than any other person I know could even think about doing. I'm not sure if there's a single question about InvisionFree that he won't be able to answer. So before you go around accusing people of "not caring", take a look around. |

I said there seemed to be a lack of support from the admins concernting these problems, I didn't "accuse" them of not being dedicated. Thank you for answering my problem, nevertheless. I'll happily wait until these problems can be fixed, I just felt I needed to express myself in the form of this topic. |

Lol, I can tell you about a bad service  I finally got so fed up with them, I asked them to delete my board...they still havent, but I shut it down months ago. As for lag, alot of times its because of codes and graphics board owners put on their board(or I found out recently, if you have alot of things in your recycle bin, that slows down a board too.) Believe me, if I was upset with the service here, after seeing some of the other companies, I would have left faster than a rat leaves a sinking ship

No. Obviously, some features will change board speed more then others, and it seems the member name change issue has a large impact (whilst something else you might want removed doesn't). |
