Dead forums get these the worst, it seems.

Ya, I agree. My first forum which had no active members, except an active spambot. Yet my second one, an active one, has no bots. Its fairly old to. :P

I have a backup board that has been open at least a year and has not had a single one. My main board has probably had a couple hundred.

Of course, now I've jinxed it. >_<

Is the backup board listed in the Invisionfree Directory though?

I'd be willing to bet that that is how they find us.... :(

no but I know of other boards that aren't who are still having a problem.

I've heard that boards that have a domain names are the ones having the problems, maybe that is why

I think most of the spam bots come from the Board Directory, Also if you google up InivisonFree you will find boards that aren't even on the Board Directory, So there you have two ways SpamBots get to boards. I do agree on what one member said. That dead boards get hit more than alive boards.

But also, SpamBots are what "kill" alive boards.

I plan on releasing the list of E-Mail extensions for everyone to blog block as spam robots. Hopefully this can contribute to the fight against spam robots!

*Edited Typo*

If you post it here, I guarantee you someone will delete it.

And why would this be? It's preventing spammers from irritating everyday people on InvisionFree... Since when was that a crime :ermm:

A few months back, there was a Spam list posted, but was deleted by Brandon or Brian I think. It had a lot of spam bot emails. The reason they delete it is because they feel that the person controlling the spam bots will see the list and change the emails now that people know the email address of the bots. As a matter of fact, I still have the list of spam bots that was deleted in my Inbox. ^_^

I don't know what good it would do to have a list. They seem to have an endless supply of emails and ip's available.

Yeah, I get between 2 and 5 new spambots a day.

Best tip I can give people for spambots is to block all .info email addresses. About half the spambots use them. I just did a search on my forum, and 176 'members' have a .info email address - and every single one was a spambot. Wish there was a mass delete so I could delete them all. :ermm:

My forum is pretty big though, so we probably have more problems with spambots than most.

Speaking of which, there's one right now - Buy cheap and discount cigarettes online!

And of course they're on our AFC South boards, cause nobody posts there.

If you haven't noticed already, my forums have about 700 spam robots, only 200 are actual accounts... and they've posted over 200 topics of spam.

My Board URL is IFBoard (link in sig)
