Its not a problem but a question. When you delete a board does the name become available straight away? And the same with renaming

I believe the answer to both of those questions is yes. |

Yep, you're right. To let admins have unlimited name changes, IF have to let your old one available or else you will get one board reserving 100 names that they do not use. |

Deleted board names are not available. That's why if you delete your board you may find it useful to first rename it to something obscure, like x_156 so that you could reuse the name in the future. |

ah interesting I never knew that but then again how could IF restore a board if someone coudl take the name. it would make it possible for two boards to have the same name on the same server which of course isn't actually possible. though I doubt I would delete a board anyway... I mean might as well keep it and close it if it were to go dead just in case. |

That makes sense, since IF can restore boards whether or not its closed or even deleted (by a stolen #1 admin account, for instance). The only way that name would be available is if IF goes into the server and truly delete it in the server. I haven't seen that happen. |

I was just curious as a lot of my members want to keep our old name, but I'm also in discussions with another board to take their name, thus we'd have the name everyone wants. But it would mean we lost people so we wanted to keep the old board address and put in a re-direct. Alas it seems not so I won't
