I am a really shy person and I avoid having contact with people because I am afraid they will have a bad opinion about me (because I often say stupid things in my desperate tries to make myself appear "cool").

Nobody ever compliments me, the only persons who ever complimented me, besides my good friends from school, are my friends over the internet. And everytime I receive a compliment I'm like "Really? :$ Ok, let's talk about something else." At my school there are popular people, who call themselves V.I.P.'s (I say that stands for Very Idiot Person because they annoy me <_<) and the ones that are in my class take care that everytime I try to dress nice, a lot of people ridicule me so I never feel good as myself (luckily I have friends who support me very much :)). Yes, they are that mean. And because of them I ended up a shy person who is utterly afraid to speak for herself. Please no advice.

I often get quite self conscious about things, but it's usually concerning what people think of me (ie. friends etc.) which is generally a silly thing to get worked up over... they wouldn't be my friends if they thought that badly about me!

Sometimes i can be outgoing and comfortable around people i don't know, but other times i freeze up and tend to revert back to my comfort zone of people i know etc.

Things have definitely changed for the better since going to university and starting work full time. I'm a lot more confident in approaching people.

I get really embarrassed when I make a joke that bombs. I mean, I'll have told it to my friends, and it was really funny and everyone laughed. Then, I go home and tell it, and my siblings just roll their eyes like me like their thinking, "Why oh why did I get stuck with her?" To quote Matchbox 20, "I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell." Or maybe I am crazy. SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS GONE!! :frantics:

I used to get selfconcious/paranoid

as i got older i thought "Hmmm this is how i am, and will be forever"

Then i figured why waste life worrying about things you dont like about yourself when others might like those traits you have!

not really mate, The people who dont like you or jusdge the way you look/dress or whatever are ALWAYS selfconcious themselves.

all you gotta do is think "**** it, Im me" and hold ya head high because your unique and most of all your YOU.

I wouldn't say I get self conscious. I generally don't read into it much if someone looks at me, but then if someone is staring at me I'd probably ask them why. Especially old men, they're the worst for it. And I don't mean that in a dirty way. But some old men do stare. Nosy.
