I will be moving out with a room-mate, girlfriend or friend when i hit university. Are you moving out at your own will or forced? If it is at your own will, how old are you? do you have a job? I know many people regretting moving out at such an early age. |

Hopefully it'll go well. All I can say is be friendly try not to make enemies with anybody If you have different interests try and interest yourself in some of their interests as well as interesting them in yours. Good luck I personally can't wait until I move into my dorm

I moved out when I was 18 for college. I went into our version of a dorm which was a 5 bed apartment. SO i shared with 4 others. Don't be scared, it will open you up to so many new things. One of my best friends is a stranger I moved in with ![]() Just respect everyones space! Whats theirs is theirs! That way you should be given the same consideration! Have fun

IDK, i've been here all day. . .and one of my roommates already made it plain that they didn't like me, and i can't say much different about them. I don't know them, and have nothing against them, but we're fairly different |

Well if anything try to avoid being with that character then. Hopefully after a while you'll get to know them. I don't know that much about what you're going through as I'm only 15, but hopefully after you guys start getting into some dormitory events and such you'll start to get to know each other better. |

go out for dinner with your roomates, and talk bout what life will be like. that seems to work..... i did it in boarding school myself. it also helps if you have a beneficial hobby for everyone. such as cooking food>/=good |

Ah, don't worry about it. Just act yourself and behave, they'll come around eventually. |

I really envy you. I wish i could move out into a dorm room to go to school. But no, y dad has to work at the university, and live close :/ or i could go to colledge, where id live with my aunt (doubtful). Id LOVE to move in with peoplunrelated to you, to get to know them, to just experience a different way of life just sounds spectacular to me. i'd absolutely love it, as long as i didnt get stuck with people who dont speak english - which is always a chance. I just wish I had an oppurtunity like you.maybe this is why i liked Harry Potter so much - the idea of living with a load of friends would just be the greatest thing ever. I guess thats because im a people person. My sister is moving out and into a dorm room in 8 days or something. But theres a difference, you can go back and see your amily, she cant. Shes moving to france to go to school (only god knows why). And im not exactly excited to go see her, no matter how beatiful france is I would not go. For 1 I absolutely loathe the french language - probably because I have not had good experiences in my french classes, and two because I absolutely HATE flying. Its the worst thing ever! I know people say that its the safest mode of transportation, but i think thats a load of it. Something goes wrong in a car, you can pull over. Something goes wrong on a plane.... but have fun Hope it works out all well. be sure to post daily about how it is - start a blog, ill read it

I remember when I first moved out. I moved out into my apartment I am now in on my 18th birthday. Had started looking for housing a few months before my birthday and it all interconnected perfectly as the manager had called me and told me an unit was ready on my 18th Birthday. Then I went to college, but I didn't stay at the dorms. I wasn't to much in sharing a room with another person. Now two years on my own, things have changed. I am glad, but I am sad every now and then. I miss living with my parents. But I had to move out and I made a promise to move out at 18. |

Moving into University accommodation is great. Yeah, there is a chance that you'll have a dodgy flatmate/roommate or something, but at the same time there is a good chance that you'll have a fantastic flatmate/roommate that you'll get on really well with. Don't worry that you all have different interests... that will just help with getting to know each other as you can ask questions about what they do etc. to find out more. Asking questions etc. is key! (although don't ask toooooo many questions... they might think you are a bit weird :P) I've moved into to two houses with people I didn't know over the last three years. The first one was at University, and at the time one of my housemates I didn't really get on with, the other I barely saw and the third I got on with ok. The third one moved out and was replaced by someone i knew from another part of university. I didn't know him too well, but since then we became pretty good friends. I lived with him and two other guys I knew in my second year at university. Last year I moved into a house with three guys I had never met before, two of which I would be working with every day. It turned out that all three guys were awesome and I had an amazing year with them. |

For some reason, The Young Ones came to mind when you said that. Yeah, just relax and be yourself around your dorm. It'll be much worse if you're uptight and stressed about it. And yeah, as Rory said, show an interest in what they enjoy. |
