stupid question, i know. but lately, ive gotten into a much more physical way of life for who knows what reasons.... :r

anyways, i just want to know what you guys do or know about how to sharpen up the body. im doing the basics, such as every day i run bout mile and a half (10 minutes, so bout 6 30 per mile), and then i do some weights and about 100 push ups and 100 crunches

however it does not seem to work >_< anyone know of other ways to, "sharpen up" ?

ahh, i also go to the occasional gym where i do the mile and such just that i use machines for other parts of the body aswell

Recently, I've taken up Tang Soo Do. I don't have a big interest in physical activities, I'd rather just sit on my computer, but I look forward to my Tang Soo Do classes every week.

I've noticed since I started, my butterfly stretch can touch the floor now. I'm pushing myself to the splits next. >_<

Just keep at it. You won't get results quickly, but they will come if you keep at it. A healthy diet is just as important as doing physical stuff. I'd be in better shape if I could drop my caffeine addiction and stop downing energy drinks and coffee all day. Other than that I eat healthy meals. My routine consists of this. Red is every day, blue is 4 times a week.

  1. Jog 1 mile, Run 1 mile, Sprint 1/2 mile, Jog 1/2 mile.
  2. Shoot 200 shots with regulation basketball.
  3. Weight room including squats, dead lift, high bench, low bench, leg press, and curls.
  4. 75 regular push ups, 75 bulldog push ups, 50 strawberry pushups
  5. 75 regular sit ups, 75 crunches, 50 abdomen sit ups
  6. 25 leg-ups
  7. At least 3 full court pickup basketball games.
Start out slow, work your way up, and keep at it. You'll see results eventually. :)

1. Sit in front of PC most of the day
2. When it goes darker I go to the beach and swim for around two miles (all beach and back)

This magically keeps me in top shape... now this is funny.... it depends on your own body, your own metabolism and such..

Very true, it consumes alot of energy and isn't that effective.

Apparently you work alot and don't see any noticeable change, some people work just a bit and they already are picking up... as I said you can't really help it with that...

You should also try to consume good quality proteines and creatine. But not like crazy, in action with the exercises.

Also, please realise that if everyone could 'sharpen up' in just like... one month, then everyone would look like that... it takes months, years of continuous exercise to get in top shape...

Well, what i mean to say, is that i have a fairly skinny body, so muscles do show. What i want is to sharpen it up

I thought swimming was supposed to be better exercise because moving in water is harder.

Swimming is good for building a base for muscles, so to speak. After you have a solid base, though, swimming merely consumes energy, and doesn't increase your muscle mass much anymore. It's still good for losing weight and keeping you healthy, though. Water aerobics are good for the heart. :D

Swimming won't build muscle mass but it's an aerobic form of exercise which means it's excellent for strengthening muscles, the heart, lungs and blood circulation.

if swimming made muscle mass, than olimpic swimmers would be much larger. yet, muscle makes you sink. i have no idea what im getting at except that olimpic swimmers are not as huge.

Just wondering, do you play ball seriously? Or is it just to stay in shape?

Other then what's already been mentioned if you're looking to add muscle mass I'd suggest you look into the phases of "Bulking" and "Cutting", a very useful website can be found at http://www.bodybuilding.com. If you already have a "skinny" body I'd suggest doing a bit more cardio and low weight with high reps, that should sharpen your tone up quite a bit if everything is done properly. Just remember though, nutrition is the most important thing.
