Just keep at it. You won't get results quickly, but they will come if you keep at it. A healthy diet is just as important as doing physical stuff. I'd be in better shape if I could drop my caffeine addiction and stop downing energy drinks and coffee all day. Other than that I eat healthy meals. My routine consists of this. Red is every day, blue is 4 times a week.

  1. Jog 1 mile, Run 1 mile, Sprint 1/2 mile, Jog 1/2 mile.

  2. Shoot 200 shots with regulation basketball.

  3. Weight room including squats, dead lift, high bench, low bench, leg press, and curls.

  4. 75 regular push ups, 75 bulldog push ups, 50 strawberry pushups

  5. 75 regular sit ups, 75 crunches, 50 abdomen sit ups

  6. 25 leg-ups

  7. At least 3 full court pickup basketball games.

Start out slow, work your way up, and keep at it. You'll see results eventually. :)

Just wondering, do you play ball seriously? Or is it just to stay in shape?

I start varsity for my high school. Not sure if that's considered "serious" or not?

Other then what's already been mentioned if you're looking to add muscle mass I'd suggest you look into the phases of "Bulking" and "Cutting", a very useful website can be found at http://www.bodybuilding.com. If you already have a "skinny" body I'd suggest doing a bit more cardio and low weight with high reps, that should sharpen your tone up quite a bit if everything is done properly. Just remember though, nutrition is the most important thing.

Looks like a team workout to me. My bball team does something similar. :)

Muscle mass takes a long time to achieve. Definitely doesn't come over night. My first two months working out produced nothing except strength, and a little muscle tone I guess. A month later my chest puffed out, my arms were bigger, my calves were bigger, just about everything got bigger I guess. :D So you just gotta keep at it.

And don't get lazy! Dropping on your maxes is very discouraging.

Yup. Summer workout. A few things are of my own accord, but most of that is a team thing.

Oh, hmm in that case it's kinda hard to tell. It all depends on the school you go to in that case. I was just wondering because I play pretty much all the time, but I'm done playing for my highschool squad, we went to OFFSA and did pretty good on national level for Canada but it's a small world and in my opinion playing on the high school level doesn't really mean much unless you're getting recruited by major schools.

I've played for a huge school, a medium sized school, and a relatively small school. We have scouts from both local and national colleges that come to games and the occasional public practice, but I'm only a sophomore so I don't get as many as, say, my senior friend does.

Yeah again though, it's still hard to tell you know what I'm saying? It's like those scounts could be from anywhere. I've played in front of Duke scouts before at camps. It doesn't really mean anything to me anymore though. Unless you're someone with major college level chances like I'm saying schools like Duke, UCLA, etc. etc. then you're really just a dime a dozen. It's just something I've learned throughout the years of the way high school sport politics is setup.

Like for instance a lot of people down here are crazy good, like there was this kid on my team he was like 5'10, PG - 200lbs of pure muscle, probably like 6% bodyfat thanks to his genetics, absolutely insane skills, pure athelete, could do windmills, 360s, you name it he could do it. He was a great team player and got sick marks, but he ended up going to a college right beside his house no one even heard of because of just height and lack of recruitment. Are coach later told him that if you're not at least a 6'4 PG in this area good luck making it to the next level, that he's just another PG and nothing really special. And I've seen this kid rip people before, we use to play all day, seriously. From like 12am till 7 at night everyday. So seeing something like that just kinda makes me doubt the whole high school scene unless your blowing up completely like LeBron did.

I'm killing the quote pyramid :P

Yeah, I know what you're saying. At our last camp we had a duke scout and an NC scout sitting across from each other. We were hoping they'd have it out on the court :P But I'm not counting on an athletic scholarships for college. It's insanely hard to get a scholarship in basketball these days. It's crazy how these 6'4 guards have to work their butts off to even get a shot! So much has changed in the last 10 years. You've gotta be a penetrator and a play maker if you want to make it and you're shorter than 6'2.

Anyway, I fear we're straying off subject here :P

I was disappointed when I realised that this thread wasn't going to be about actually physically chiselling your body. :(

Anyway, rowing is the manly (if we're talking topgun style manly) way to stay in shape - what other sport allows you to dress up in tight lycra and jump into a boat full of other men? :arr:

It's very tiring but good fun and exercise. :)

One of my floor's residents is on the crew (rowing) team. She's pretty muscular in a girly way.
